Some thoughts about the Daffodil Day Service

Image
"For as he thinks in his heart, so is he." Proverbs 23: 7 ---- The night before our church's Daffodil Day Service, where I was volunteering as a steward, I called a friend, who was also going to be a steward. In jest, I told her that as neither of us have done stewarding at a church event before, we might be asked to work at the balcony. My friend said she wouldn't mind. On the day of the service, both of us were allocated positions at different doors. I was with another colleague and she told me our door would be pretty quiet. We weren't even required to do offertory. While I was watching people arrive and take their seats,  I wondered whether some friends I had invited from another church were coming to the event. Suddenly, I saw a church elder speaking to my friend at the other door. He then came over and asked if he could move me to another position at the balcony.  I said I didn't mind. (I realised he had asked my friend, but she had declined). I wa...

Free Tissues

Image
"Freely you have received, freely give." Matthew 10: 8 ---- About two weeks ago, I found a packet of tissues on the pavement, which I picked up. Today, I finally put the tissues in my rucksack in case I needed them. On the train to work, this young lady sitting beside me asked me if I had any tissues. I pulled out the packet and offered her two of them. I find it interesting how the moment I put the tissues I had freely received in my rucksack, God sent me someone who needed some. In fact,  I don't remember any adult ever asking me for tissues before. As I freely receive,  I freely give. ❤️ Photo of the packet of tissues .

Abouut Sharing

"The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein." Psalm 24: 1 "The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord’s; but the earth He has given to the children of men." Psalm 115: 15 ---- While I was supervising some 3 and 4 year olds at the playground, two boys ran up to me Boy 1: Miss, he won't let me play with the ball!  Boy 1 was pointing at Boy 2 who was hogging the ball. Me to Boy 2: Does this ball belong to you? Boy 2: No, Miss. Me; Who does this ball belong to? Both boys: The school. Me: Which means? Boy 2: We have to share. Me: Good boy! Now go and play with the ball, together. The boys ran off. I noticed boy 2 had now dropped the ball he had been hogging and boy 1 was now hogging it. 😀 Adults can learn a lot from the way kids behave in the playground. Like the toys at schools which are meant to be shared, earth, which belongs to God, has been given to His chldren which they all have to share. At least, that's the theo...
