The Prodigal Daughter Returns

Recently, a Facebook friend posted a line from a song. I recognised the song immediately from way back in the 1980s. Today while I was having breakfast at this restaurant, the same song came on. I made a video clip of me singing along to it. I then posted the clip on Facebook and tagged my friend. The song is called "Don't You Want Me Baby" by The Human League. Here's the video clip. 😊

 I went to the supermarket for a few items  At the self-checkout, just as I was about to start scanning, a staff member told me the machine would scan the items for me. Sure enough, in the blink of an eye, the machine told me how much I had to pay. While I was paying, I wondered if the machine would put the shopping basket away. Suddenly,  this guy who looked like a manager picked up my basket and said, "I'll put it away for you." "I was wondering whether a machine that scans for you would put the basket away for you," I said. "It's obviously not that smart." "No, the machine is not that advanced," he said. 😄

Earlier on, I was watching this reality TV programme. One guy was having a row with this woman. He started taking out his anger on other characters. He then realised the error of his ways. He told someone he was upset because he didn't like arguing with women.  He later apologised to the woman he'd had the altercation with. Later on, I received a text from my flatmate to let me know she was coming home late. I told her I would feed her cat, Zeus. I then let him in before it started to rain. While Zeus was relaxing on his bed, I petted him. Suddenly, we heard a cat screeching outside.  Zeus is usually very calm. It was funny seeing him making himself look big and growling like a panther. He wanted to go out and fight, but I was having none of it. I reckon the screech was from our neighbour's cat, Coco, who he can't stand. When I woke up this morning, I wasn't feeling excited as I usually do on my birthday. I was even feeling depressed When I asked the Lord why I wasn't feeling it, He reminded me of the Bible verse I was meditating on yesterday about my true identity in Christ. ---- "I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the  life  which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me." Galatians 2: 20 "My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." Galatians 2: 20, NLT ---- Of course, now it makes sense. My old self celebrated birthdays as she had her own life separate from God. That old self is dead. Dead people don't celebrate birthdays! I have been born again in Christ and He is my life. Today, I volunteered as a visitor host, which entails giving visitors a guided tour around our church. Visitors come from all over the world and the UK. We provide written guides in various languages to meet their various needs. As we are aware visitors have different interests and time limits, before we start, we usually ask visitors what they're interested in or how long they have. When a colleague asked a visitor how long she had,  she said, "three days." She either has a lot of time to kill or she's lost in translation.  😀😀😀

"And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8: 32 ---- A few days ago, I posted a video clip of me dancing at a staff party.  Did you know two hours before that party, I was struggling healthwise? Here's the back story. As I had been off for a few days on leave, I was enjoying my downtime. I didn't fancy going all the way into central London on my day off. When I asked God if I should attend, I immediately had a vision of myself all dressed up in the outfit I was going to wear and seeing myself dancing. OK, I'll go. I usually catch the tube in to work. As I had lots of time, I decided to catch the bus instead. On the bus I started feeling sick as if I was getting a stomach upset. If this feeling continued, I was going to just get off and get the bus back home. Why would God give me the go-ahead to attend the party if I was going to be sick? I was having a conversation with a work colleague about a jacket I bought circa 1998 which I still wear as it's a classic and I paid a lot for it at the time. 8 "I was born in 1998," she said. "I love vintage clothing." 😄 Another colleague was having a problem with someone at work who had made her upset. She said, "I'm sure if it was you, you would have known how to handle him as you are quite elderly." "I'm elderly, am I? Thanks a lot!" She burst out laughing and said, "But you're a lot stronger than me though." That's what happens when you work with GenZs. Your clothing is vintage and they see you as elderly, even though they are puzzled that you still look young and are full of energy. 😄

Usually when someone introduces themselves, I tend to instantly forget their name, even when the name is an easy English name. The only way I remember names is when I make an association with them. With non-English names, I have to keep asking and repeating them until they eventually stick. Where I work, there's a room some people ask about. Because I hadn't made an association,  I had to ask my colleague to remind me. I finally made an association that the name starting with an "F" is the name of a previous President. Now that I had made that association I knew I would never forget it. The next day, I noticed a visitor wearing a t-shirt with the same name on it. 😊 Another time, I was chatting to a work colleague about Superman. Suddenly, I noticed a visitor with a  t-shirt with the Superman logo. Very funny, God! 😆

For a couple of years now, someone has been courting me. I have been keeping him at arms length as I've been very wary of getting into a relationship with him. A couple of weeks ago, I finally decided to take a leap of faith nd agreed to enter into a serious relationship with him. So far, so good! Windows 11 is alright actually! I should have downloaded it a long time ago on my laptop. They must have ironed out any issues they had. I bet you all thought I was referring to a bloke, didn't you? 😆

"Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you." 1 Peter 5: 6-8  ----- On the bus, I noticed this guy wearing a t-shirt and showing off his bulging muscles. So I asked him to open a bottle of soft drink I was struggling with. He was very willing. Thank you, Lord, for sending me Hercules when I needed Your strength.❤️

"That which is has already been, and what is to be has already been;" Ecclesiastes 3: 15 ---- I was telling my flatmate about a guy I was flirting with until I found out he was over 25 years younger than I, which put me right off him. "I'm not exactly Joan Collins," I said.  (JC's husband is 31 years younger than her). "You attract young men because you look so young," she said. "Another thing, he's non-Christian, which is a no-go area." "No point wasting your time on someone who doesn't share your values," she said. "That's the great thing I find about getting older - I can see the end in the beginning so I don't have to waste my time," I said. "That's a nice way to put it," she chuckled.  😆

While we were having a debrief at the end of our shift, our manager asked us to name a very positive experience we had today. "The Pesto and pasta I had for lunch was quite nice", I said. I don't think that was the response he was expecting. 😆

That moment when you're on the bus and fall asleep. You wake up and see the bus is  near the River Thames and heading towards  London Bridge station. Noooooo! That's not where I work! Why didn't you wake me up, Lord? "Freewill," He says. "Besides, you looked so cute asleep." Very funny, not! Just as well I always give myself lots of time. I can catch the bus back from the station. I  still arrived at work twenty minutes early. ❤️

Proverbs 23: 7 ---- The night before our church's Daffodil Day Service, where I was volunteering as a steward, I called a friend, who was also going to be a steward. In jest, I told her that as neither of us have done stewarding at a church event before, we might be asked to work at the balcony. My friend said she wouldn't mind. On the day of the service, both of us were allocated positions at different doors. I was with another colleague and she told me our door would be pretty quiet. We weren't even required to do offertory. While I was watching people arrive and take their seats,  I wondered whether some friends I had invited from another church were coming to the event. Suddenly, I saw a church elder speaking to my friend at the other door. He then came over and asked if he could move me to another position at the balcony.  I said I didn't mind. Yesterday, I worked at this art gallery. In one gallery I was invigilating, I had to remind visitors not to lean on or touch the panels and they weren't allowed to sit on the floor. One woman said, "Yes, I get you.  No leaning on the floor." I said, "No, no sitting on the floor." It reminds of the game of Chnese Whispers when you whisper a word to someone and they have to pass on that message to another.  I'm starting to volunteer as a  host showing visitors around our magnificent church building. As there's a lot of historical facts to learn about the building, I will be shadowing the experts until I am confident to go it alone.  I believe whether I am a confident or unconfident host, God will be my Guide every step of the way. A few interesting facts about the building: - The building was host to the very first meeting of the General Assembly of the United Nations in January 1946.  - The Great Hall, where they have the main service on Sundays, has hosted events with speakers like Winston Churchill, Martin Luther King Jr, Margaret Thatcher etc. - Last year the media used the building to broadcast King Charles' coronation.  I'm looking forward to getting to know more about the building and sharing that knowledge with visitors. ❤️ Here's the link for anyone interested in visiting. https://www.mchw.live/

We had a great shoot today with dry weather; lots of fun and laughter with my colleagues; and the meal was so delicious I took some home. We also wrapped early, which was a bonus. Four of us girls walked to the station together. Thank you, God, for an easy, fun and wonderful day. ❤️

It's okay for Zeus (my flatmate's cat) to run up and down my bedroom, lie on my bed, fall asleep on my chest and push his bum (bottom) on my face. The moment I cough, that cat is nowhere to be seen. That's cat love for you! 😆

By the time, I arrived at work, I was coughing so much I wanted to go home. After our duty brief, I noticed I was meant to be doing ticketing during the first hour, which I don't like doing. The duty  manager told me I could swap with someone else. Another colleague agreed to swap my ticketing shift with his lobby shift. At first I didn't mind as I like chatting to people.  It was then I remembered I was coughing. I can't be coughing while welcoming guests. That's not professional! What to do? I know. Ask Jesus. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for being my everything and for doing everything. Amen. I was now ready for my first shift.
