Forsaking All for Jesus

Before I had my hair cropped in 1992, I mulled over that decision for a whole year. While the hairdresser was cutting my hair, she looked at my reflection on the mirror and must have noticed the horror on my face. She told me if I wasn't sure, she could just do short back and sides and leave a bit of hair on top. I agreed with her.  The next day, I went to another hairdresser and asked them to take everything off. I haven't regretted that decision. In the same respect, before I arrived at the point where I could share my Christian faith in public, I mulled over it for over a year. I haven't looked back since. What can I say, I am a deep thinker. 😀 ------- Posted on.Facebook -14.8.2021 Friends, In case you haven't noticed, after a lot of soul searching, I have converted to Orthodox - Bible based - Christianity. By this I mean confessing myself as a sinner and that Jesus Christ died for my sins and by faith and grace I have accepted Jesus as my personal saviour. This mea...

I Surrender All - Revisited9

"And do not present your members  as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members  as  instruments of righteousness to God.   For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace."  Romans 6: 13-14 ---- I have been practising surremdering everything to the Lord. I don't always remember to. When I got up this morning, I surrendered my whole being and every moment of my day to the Lord. I left home earlier than usual to catch the bus to the nearest tube station. When I arrived at the station, the  platform was chock-a-block with passengers. There was a notice informing passengers that there was a severe delay. An announcement came on advising passengers to find alternative routes to their destination. I started wondering whether I should catch the bus. Do I have enough time to catch the bus and arrive at work on time? I then reminded myse...

Jesus Christ, the Conductor

Image
"I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.," Psalm 32: 8 "Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together." Psalm 34: 3 ---- Whenever I watch a classical concert, my attention is always focused on the conductor.  I love how they are in command of all the musicians. Because the conductor knows the musical piece inside out, he knows exactly when to bring different musicians in. Of course, those musicians must be willing to submit to and trust in the conductor to lead them. Where there is a lack of trust, there is disharmony.  I believe Jesus Christ is the Conductor of my life experiences. When I trust in Him, He let's me know when it's time to play my instrument and when to rest. Here's an example. Earlier today, I read a friend's post on Facebook about how she is still struggling with letting go of the last images of her mum before she passed away. As I have had a similar experience, I c...

I Surrender All

"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." Romans 12: 1-2 ----- While I was getting dressed, I was half-listening to a sermon on my laptop by Pastor Charles Stanley about surrender.  He talked about how when in a battle, when one side surrenders, they give up their freedom to their adversary.  That got my attention. As I was putting on my lipstick, I said okay Lord, if I surrender all to you, can I still wear this lipstick? 😊 Please teach me how to surrender my all to you.  He told me to practice surrendering on a daily and moment to moment basis, then He can work through me at all times. When I got on the tube, I surrendered the journey to Him. One tube I got on was packed full, but th...

God the Author of My Life Story

(Previously posted on Facebook on 30.5.2021) "Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith." Hebrews 12: 1-2 ------ In a TV episode of "Agatha Christie's Poirot" one of the characters, who was an author of detective stories, was complaining that his main  character in his novel was refusing to cooperate with his plot. I have actually heard about that phenomenon where authors of fiction who have created strong lead characters, especially those who have appeared in several novels, find the characters controlling the plot's development. The author either has to let the characters take the lead or abandon that project and start a new novel with new characters. I believe God is the Author of all his creations' life stories and He has w...

Let Me Take This Over

Image
Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you;" Psalm 55: 22 ---- In this reality TV show I was watching about buying and selling property, one client was upset after sacking her agent. The new agent said to the seller: "I'm going to take this over. I don't want you to stress about it." The seller visibly relaxed or at least appeared to be. The new agent then sold the property. It got me thinking, why is it so easy for people to trust their estate agents, but they have difficulty trusting in the all knowing and all powerful God? I must confess I still find it hard having complete faith in God. Whilel I surrender my cares, I still worry about the outcome. Father God, thank you for helping me trust You with all my affairs in Jesus name.
