The Right Dress and Right Gift

Image
After my friend invited me to her church wedding, I started thinking about what to wear. I didn't think I had anything suitable in my wardrobe. It would mean buying something new.  I had an idea to ask my flatmate if she had anything I could borrow for a wedding. She showed me a few dresses for me to consider. which didn't fit or looked right. Finally, she brought out this dress with glitter. I knew it was the One. When I tried it on, it fit perfecly. I also had sandals with glitter to go with the dress. (On the day of the wedding, I decided to wear ankle boots instead). My flatmate also thought I needed to wear a bracelet which she loaned me. I already had the right earrings to go with the bracelet. (See photo below) My flatmate also gave me a hand bag as a gift which  I thought would go perfectly with my coat. Next, what to get my friend as a wedding gift in my budget. I could get vouchers so she can buy what she wants. The day before the wedding, I had an idea to check this...

Unexpected Blessings

"But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus." Philippians 4: 190 ---- When I saw my flatmate, I told her I was finding the weather too hot to go out and I was running out of food. She asked me what I was going to eat. I said I had some eggs so  I was going to make an omelette and have it with baked beans. She told me she had some potatoes and I was welcome to one or two.  I remembered I had a can of tuna, but I didn't have any mayonnaise.  She told me I could have some of hers. She also gave me some sweet corn. Within half an hour I was having a jacket potato with tuna mayonnaise and sweet corn. Later my flatmate popped out to see our neighbour.  She returned with a pair of leggings from her neighbour. Apparently, our neighbour has never worn it.  As it was too small for my flatmate.  She asked me to try it on to see if it fit. It did fit, but it was slightly short. I could wear it with boots. My flatmate then went...

If at First You Don't Succeed

So I put a quiche in the oven to heat it up. By the time I checked it again, it was overdone. I had to scrape the burnt bits off. I didn't share that information with my flatmate, who was at work at the time. The very next day, my flatmate bought me the exact same quiche from the supermarket. I told her I had "cooked" a quiche the day before but it was more burnt than cooked. I believe God had inspired my flatmate to buy that quiche for me. It was His way of saying, if at first you don't succeed, try again.😊 Tomorrow I will have the quiche and be sure to follow the heating instructions. Thank you, Lord, for caring about everything that concerns me including cooking. ❤️

My Companion, Zeus

I'm cat-sitting again for a few days while my flatmate is away. Here is Zeus keeping me company while I was getting ready for work. He's so adorable!  Thank you for keeping me company, Zeus! ❤️

Pizza

When I arrived home, I notced my flatmate had just finished heating some pepperoni pizza. She asked me if I wanted a few slices and I said yes. She apologised that the pizza was overdone. I agreed it wasn't the best, but I still had the slices and was grateful. The next day, I was off work. A friend texted me. After a series of long funny exchanges, we arranged to meet up so he could take me out for lunch. When we met, I told him I fancied some pizza. He took me to this nice pizza place, which had even won awards. I had a pepperoni pizza and it was the best I've ever had. My portion was so large, I asked for a doggie bag to take the rest with me, which I gave to my flatmate. She said the pizza was amazing. Thank you, God, for your many blessings. ❤️

Annual Rent Increase

A few weeks ago, my flatmate and I had a chat about our annual rent increase which was fast approaching.  We wondered how much our landlord was going to increase our rent by and how far  I was willing to stretch myself. Last year's was a whopping increase. I didn't fancy another one this  year. I don't particularly want to move as I like living with my flatmates (including her cat). It's also a nice, quiet and green neighbourhood with great amenities. In fact, this flat met the exact requirements I prayed for. I trust that God will provide whatever the increase. Back to our conversation,  my flatmate and I decided not to worry, but wait and see what happens. I decided to wait on the Lord instead by praying for the rent increase to be fair and reasonable for all parties. Last night, I woke up around 3am to use the toilet. As I couldn't get back to sleep, I turned my phone on and started browsing the BBC news website. I noticed an article saying rents were increa...

Easter Eggs Sandwiches

Image
How wonderful to see an Easter egg in the form of a sandwich. I bought one for myself and another for my flatmate. (My flatmate loved the idea of it). The Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5: 22) includes self-control. Self-control  is going to make me wait till Easter to open my Easter Egg sandwich. Thank you, Lord, for blessing me and my flatmate with these sandwiches. ❤️ Photos of the Easter egg sandwiches

God Helps Me Carry My Shopping

"Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life;" Psalm 23: 6 ---- While I was in town, I stopped off at my favourite store to buy some grocery. I still needed a few essentials like bleach, toilet rolls, kitchen rolls etc. I decided to get them at the supermarket near where I live. I was thinking it was going to be challenging carrying a shopping basket, my bag of shopping and my rucksack. I could go home and come back out, but I didn't fancy that idea.  Not to worry, all will be well. Just as I was getting off the bus, I felt someone tapping my shoulder. It was my flatmate. It turns out we had been travelling on the same bus, but we hadn't seen each other as I was sitting in front and she was right at the back. I told her I needed to get a few items at the supermarket.  I asked her if she could take my other bag of shopping home for me. She even loaned me her shopping bag, which came in very handy. I marveled at how God had met my need so perf...
