The Hand

"The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." John 10: 10 ---- At Christmas, believers celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.  On the 31 October aka Halloween, people celebrate Satan aka the devil and his demons. A lot of people believe the devil doesn't exist and think it's just harmless fun dressing up in demonic costumes, but they don't realise they're playing with fire and invoking evil spirits and dark entities.  If the devil and his minions didnt exist, Jesus wouldn't have talked  so much about the devil during His ministry.  In fact, Jesus said He came to restore what the devil had stolen. (John 10: 10) I no longer celebrate Halloween. If I want to dress up in costume, I either do so at a convention or when I am required to do so in a film production. The story below (Previously posted on Facebook) occurred in 2013. Even thou...

The Holy Spirit is My Teacher

"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you." John 14: 26 ---- While I was listening to this pastor on a Christian channel, she said something which I knew was off. I immediately stopped listening. I have observed many pastors, ministers and teachers filter their teachings through their belief systems. In other words, they present the Bible based on what they believe is possible instead of what  the Word of God states is possible. For instance, a pastor who does not believe healing is possible without medical intervention might preach that God can work through many different channels. The Bible clearly illustrates how the first Christians (after they received the Holy Spirit) were able to heal all manner of diseases and even raise the dead in Jesus's name. There is a pastor I sometimes listen to whose ministry practices healing of all d...

God Loves Me

Image
"He who does not love does not know God, for God is love." 1 John 4: 8 ---- On my way to work, I noticed this woman, walking in front of me, was wearing a white jacket. At the back of it were the words "Love" printed about 20 times. Just as I was overtaking her I said to her, "I love your jacket. It's nice to see so much love." "Thank you," she said. "We all need love, right?"  "We certainly do," I said. At work, I noticed a colleague with a fleece that was covered with love hearts. I told her I had just seen a woman with a love jacket and now I am seeing her fleece covered in love hearts. She told me she had just bought the fleece before she came to work. It got me thinking of real love, God's love. God, the Father, loved us so much, He sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to die for us so we can be redeemed and be reconciled to Him. Jesus, who is also God, loved us so much that He became the sacrificial lamb for us. He t...

My Faith is in the Unseen

Image
"By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible."  Hebrews 11: 3 ----- I believe everything which is seen comes from the unseen realm. When your faith is only in that which is seen, you get more of the same.  When your faith is on the unseen, then the unseen manifests as your reality. A week ago, while I was cooking some chips (fries) in the oven, the back of my hand rubbed against the oven. At first, I didn't give it any thought, but when it started hurting I realised I had burnt myself. I prayed for the pain to stop and it did, but it was obvious from the texture of my skin that it was burnt. I reminded myself that by Jesus' stripes, I am already healed. (2 Peter 2: 24). However, I was busy focusing on the mark on my hand (the seen).  On one bus journey, this woman sat next to me. We got chatting about our faith. She said she was raised as a Catholic, but she no longe...

Heaven Smells of Roses

Image
"Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven." Matthew 6: 10 ----- When I woke up in the middle of the night, there was a strong aroma of roses.  It was like I was in a rose garden and it was wonderful. I actually love roses. To me, heaven smells of roses. Thank you, God, for giving me a glimpse of heaven on earth. ❤️ Ps: this photo was taken last year from our communal garden.

Ten Year Anniversary

Image
On this day, ten years ago, my mum, Isa, left her body and her spirit and soul went to be with the Lord. While I know mum loved me, she loved Jesus Christ a zillion times more and I know she's with Him. I was devastated when Isa "left" as she was not only my mum, she was my cook, stylist, banker, teacher, sparring partner and friend. The best legacy that Isa left me was her love for the Lord. When I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Saviour, He healed my broken heart. Thank you, Isa, for playing the role of my mum and for sharing your love of Jesus Christ with me. We are now forever sisters-in-Christ. I know that one day we will be reunited, but there is no rush as I also know that even if I lived for a thousand years, when we meet again, it would be like you only saw me a moment ago. (2 Peter 3: 8) Thank you, Lord, for giving me Isa. ❤️ ---- Related Bible verses: "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who c...

Jesus Makes My Burdens Light

Image
"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest....For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11: 29, 30 ----- Before we let members of the audience into our section of the auditorium, my colleague and I had to check the fire exits and make sure they were clear.  My colleague and I walked down different staircases which led to the same place. As I walking down the winding staircase, I was thinking there's a lot of steps.  When I got down, I opened the fire exit doors and they were clear. My colleague also opened the other fire exit doors and they were fine. We could have walked around the building, enter and get the lift back up to level 5, but it was raining heavily and we didn't want to get wet.  It was time to walk up. At the bottom of my staircase, I prayed, "Lord, I need your help to climb these steps." As I was walking up, I was thinking "light, light, light." The walk up was a lot easier and light than it wo...

Temperature Control

While I was taking a break at this expo I was working at, I thought to myself that the exhibition centre was really hot. Suddenly, I noticed this guy with a hi vis jacket walking by. At the back of his jacket were the words, "Temperature Control." He sat down to have his meal. I approached him and said, "I've been thinking how hot it is here and you showed up. Are you the temperature control man?" "No, I'm working at another company," he said. He did find it rather amusing though. I'll just have to trust in God to control the temperature.😄 ---- Related Bible verses:. 3 Do not put your trust in princes, Nor in [b]a son of man, in whom there is no [c]help. 4 His spirit departs, he returns to his earth; In that very day his plans perish. 5 Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, Whose hope is in the Lord his God, 6 Who made heaven and earth," Psalm 146: 3-5

What is My Function?

At this expo I was working at, I was helping visitors print out their badges with the scanning machine. Whenever I or anyone got close to the scanning machine, it would automatically scan the barcode on their badge and print out another badge. I found  it quite hilarious. 😄 I had to either hide my lanyard badge inside my jacket or try not to stand close to the machine. It got me thinking about functions. The function of the scanning machine is to scan barcodes and print out badges. In other words, the machine has been programmed to scan barcodes and print out badges. The machine doesn't care whether you did not intend for it to scan the barcode, it scans it anyway. In the same respect, I believe the function of all born again Christians is to be ambassadors for Christ.  All Christians are programmed by the renewing of their minds to be ambassadors for Christ.  We renew our minds with the Word of God/Bible. Within every Christian is the Holy Spirit, who is our Helper,...

Mambo

Image
"and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen." Matthew 28: 20 ----- While I was snuggling my flatmate's cat, Zeus,  I said to him,  "The Lord is right here with us. Look, can you see Him?" Zeus stared at the "empty space" behind me and gazed at me. I knew Zeus could actually see God's presence. Zeus reminds me so much of a friend's cat called Mambo. She was also a black cat. Mambo had one of those plaintive miaows that tugs at your heart. My friend loved her. For personal reasons, he had to give her up, but he assured me she went to a good home. I 've often wondered how Mambo is. The last time I saw her was over 25 years ago. She's either long passed or is extremely old, if she's still alive. A few hours later, while I was invigilating at this art gallery, I noticed this visitor was wearing a black top. When he turned round, I noticed  the word "MAMBO" at the back of his top. I told him I had been think...

How God Answered My Friend

Image
"Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know." Jeremiah 33: 3 ---- On Saturday evening I texted my friend to let her know that I wouldn't be attending church the next day as I had to work. The next day, my friend sent me photos of a church event she was attending. When I told her I had been working at this hospital and museum for pensioners, she told me she almost applied for a role as an occupational therapist at that hospital. After I sent my friend some photos I had taken of the museum and hospital, she told me she had been wondering what the building looks like inside.  I told her God had made a way to answer her wondering by getting me that job and working through me to show her those photos. God is wonderful. ❤️ Some photos of the museum and hospital

The Lord Never Changes

Image
"For I am the Lord, I change not." Malachi 3: 6 ---- It's a new day and a new venue. Today, I'm working at Covent Garden (CG) in central London.  When I was in my twenties, I used to hang out a lot with friends at CG  enjoying the pubs and shops. Since then, a lot of the old shops have gone and been replaced by new trendy ones. And yet, the market and the buildings around  CG remain the same. I believe the changing shops represent different generations and ages while the buildings and market represent the Lord who never changes. "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever." Hebrews 13: 8 Blessings to all. ♥️

Jesus Heals

When I got home from my friend's wedding party, I was still buzzing and I couldn't sleep. I decided to watch this singing talent show on my laptop to see real singers in action. 😄 Suddenly, I had this painful cramp on my left calf.  I got out of bed, and kept massaging the calf and calling on the name of Jesus. Within a minute, the pain was gone. I went back to bed and continued watching the talent show. The devil doesn't like people to be in joy. He'll send something to derail you or try to steal your joy. I always use that opportunity to glorify God. At the name of Jesus every knee shall bow, including painful cramps. Thank you, Jesus. ❤️  ---- Related Bible verses: "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." The Right Dress and Right Gift

Image
After my friend invited me to her church wedding, I started thinking about what to wear. I didn't think I had anything suitable in my wardrobe. It would mean buying something new.  I had an idea to ask my flatmate if she had anything I could borrow for a wedding. She showed me a few dresses for me to consider. which didn't fit or looked right. Finally, she brought out this dress with glitter. I knew it was the One. When I tried it on, it fit perfecly. I also had sandals with glitter to go with the dress. (On the day of the wedding, I decided to wear ankle boots instead). My flatmate also thought I needed to wear a bracelet which she loaned me. I already had the right earrings to go with the bracelet. (See photo below) My flatmate also gave me a hand bag as a gift which  I thought would go perfectly with my coat. Next, what to get my friend as a wedding gift in my budget. I could get vouchers so she can buy what she wants. The day before the wedding, I had an idea to check this...

Fear Can't Stop Love

"There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love." 1 John 4: 18 ---- During my bus journey, this woman got on. I noticed she had a natural short Afro hair and her hair colour was similar to mine. I thought it suited her. She sat right in front of me and took her phone out. After a while when she looked up, I asked her what colour her hair was. She said it was a combination of copper and another, which she had mixed herself. I told her mine was copper bought from the shops. I told her I liked her hair colour and her short hair suited her. I asked her how long she'd had her hair short. She said 10 years and it gave her a lot of freedom.  I told her I've had mine cropped since 1992 which she found amazing. I said in those days there weren't many women with my kind of hair. My friend said the moment she got on the bus she noticed my hair and thought it really suited me, b...

Lost Ear Stud Found

"Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know." Jeremiah 33: 3 ---- While I was removing my ear studs, I dropped one. I  looked for it on the carpet, but I couldn't find it. The studs are not expensive. I can easily replace them, but I love these studs. Lord, please show me where the stud is.  Put it where I can see it. Thank you. I got impatient and went  through my earrings case in case I'd dropped the stud in it, but it wasn't there. I searched the dressing table. Nothing. I looked on the carpet again.  Still nothing. I reminded myself that God knows where everything is. There is nothing hidden that He won't reveal. (Luke 8: 17) I was still feeling sad when I went to bed as I don't like losing stuff. In the middle of the night, I woke up and checked the time on my phone. It was 3.33 am. That has to be a sign. I switched the light on and went to look on the table again. Eh voila, I found the stud right th...

Connected Yet Disconnected

"He who does not love does not know God, for God is love." 1 John 4: 8 ---- I believe mobile technology is a d8ouble edged sword. On the one hand, mobile phones connect people, on the other hand, they disconnect people. Here are two examples. While I was travelling on the bus, it was so packed full, three passengers were standing upstairs. The bus driver made an announcement for passengers standing upstairs to go downstairs. None of the standing passengers budged. I reckon they either couldn't understand what the driver was saying or couldn't hear him.  As I was sitting next to one of them, I tapped him and told him they weren't allowed to stand upstairs and they should go downstairs, which they did. A few days later, I was travelling again on another bus. This time, I was sitting at the back upstairs. I noticed two women standing. The bus driver announced that passengers weren't allowed to stand upstairs, but they didn't move. The driver announced agai...

Salvation is in the Continuous Present

"Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure." Philippians 2: 12-13 ---- One thing I've realised is while Jesus saved us two thousand years ago, it's not enough to just accept your salvation once. Salvation is in the continuous present. In other words, because Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever, the Lord's benefits in Psalm 103: 1-5 is for yesterday, today and forever; and The Lord’s Prayer  (Matthew 6: 9-13) is for yesterday, today and forever. Now every day, I thank God for saving me. His salvation includes his blessings,  forgiveness, grace, healing, joy, love, peace, power, protection, provision, truth and wholeness. While I was out walking, I tripped on the pavement and almost fell flat on my face  but the Lord ...

Thinking of God's Infinitude

"For as he thinks in his heart, so is he." Proverbs 23: 7 ---- On my way to work, I was meditating on God's infinitude in 1 Kings 8: 27.(See Bible verse below). I thought about how the entire tube represents all of God's creation (seen and unseen). While God fills all of it, It cannot contain God.  In other words, God fills all time and space and is outside time and space. When I arrived at work, one of my colleagues told me I was glowing. "I'm always glowing," I said. "Yes, but today you are glowing more than usual." "That's becsuse the Lord is with me," I smiled at him. It's wonderful how when I was thinking about God's presence, my colleague could see His light around me. We really do become what we think. Thank yoo, Lord for being in me, with me and around me.❤️ ---- Related Bible verse: "But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain You. How much less this temple ...

I Choose to Focus on Jesus

"And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." Romans 12: 2 ---- I am constantly being bombarded with world views that are completely opposed to your Christian world view. The Bible tells us this world view or carnal mind is hostile towards God. (Romans 8: 6-7)  How does one deal with this hostility? While I was at my friend's place, I suddenly felt intense pain in my calf. When she noticed me wincing, she said, "What's wrong?" "Cramp," I said. "It must be very painful," she said. My friend is a nurse and doesn’t share my Christian belief. So I know exactly where she is coming from. I didn't agree or disagree with her. Instead, while I was massaging my calf, I was thinking of Jesus. We continued our conversation. Within a few minutes, the pain had dissolved. I told my friend my calf was now fine as Jesus had healed i...
