No Disappointment in God

" Through  the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are  new every morning; Great  is  Your faithfulness." Lamentations 3:22–23 ---- With human relationships, if you have expectations, if they fulfil them, you are happy; if they don't,  you are disappointed.  When you have a relationship with God, you can never be disappointed as all his promises are steadfast and true for all time. That's why I have faith only in God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. ❤️

Carol Service

When I logged on to the BBC  to watch the Christmas Carol service at King's, someone was just about to start the Bible lesson from John 1: 1- 14. That Bible lesson happens to be the same lesson I once read at my school's Christmas carol service.  Thank you, God, for inspiring me to log in at the right time! God is wonderful! ❤️

What Bus is That?

"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given.. and his name shall be called Wonderful." Isaiah 9: 6 ---- While I was waiting for my bus, the glare from the  bright sunlight was preventing me from seeing the numbers in front of the buses approaching until the last moment. As I was the only one at the bus stop, I didn't want the bus I wanted to go past me. Otherwise, I would have to wait a long time for the next one, as the bus companies operate a restricted bus service on a Bank Holiday. So I thought, Lord could you let me know when my bus is approaching. Several buses went by, but they weren't mine. Finally I saw this bus approaching really fast, but I couldn't tell whether it was mine or not. Suddenly, I noticed this cyclist in front of the bus and the bus slowed down and was driving at the same speed as the cyclist. That gave me all  the time I needed to confirm it was the bus I was waiting for. I then beckoned for the bus driver to stop. Nice one, God!

Jesus is the Word

Last night, I watched the Christmas carol service from Westminster Abbey, which was hosted by the Princess of Wales. It reminded me of when I first took part in my school's Christmas carol service at this church. I was 10 years old at  the time. At first, I was reluctant to take part as I thought I couldn't sing and I was too shy. Our teaxher  not only picked me as one of the choristers singing descant in the choir, she gave me the final Bible lesson to read - John 1: 1-14 (the King James Version). I ended up memorising that entire Bible passage, which I still remember to this day. At the time, I had no idea what the words meant, but I knew they were important. Later, when I became a born again Christian, I came to realise that Jesus Christ (the Word and God) took on the form of a man so he could save all of mankind for all time. He could only do that as God coming through the virgin Mary.  A "fallen"  man with a sinful nature could not have achieved that. Those who b

Love Never Fails

Image
"Love never fails." 1 Corinthians 13: 8 ---- I went to this cafe and asked if they did jacket potato.  I was told they didn't, but they directed me to a cafe across the road that did. They even told me the name of the cafe. I loved how instead of seeing the other cafe as competition, they gave them their support, so everyone wins. When I went to the next cafe, I told them they have a friend in the cafe across the road, as they had recommended them to me. And their jacket potato with tuna and sweetcorn was delicious! ❤️ Photo of the jacket potato.

Postal Delivery

I received a card from the post office that they tried to deliver a package and they advised me to either pick it up at the local delivery office or arrange another date for delivery.  It has already taken them 3 weeks to deliver the packet.  I was tempted to let them return it to sender. , I decided to pick it up in two days i.e. Friday. I then had the idea to check when the next postal strikes were. It said Friday and Saturday,  which meant if I don't pick up the package today, I will have to wait till after Christmas. I still wasn't in the mood to go out. Maybe the strikes will not affect the delivery  office. I decided to give the company a call to ask. I was told there was a 50 minutes call waiting time to speak to an adviser.  They also reminded customers to be kind to their staff. I don't want to wait that long! God, could you please speed up the queue so I can speak to an adviser? While I was waiting, I had an idea to look up the company's website and informatio

Moving Time

"My times  are  in Your hand;" Psalm 31: 15 ---- When I got to the bus stop, I noticed my bus was the third bus due in 4 minutes. I asked God to move my bus to the top. I was amazed to see my bus appearing. When I got on the bus and tapped my Oyster card, it didn't work. The next customer tried but it didn't work. The driver had no choice but to let us in, which meant I got to travel for free. Later the driver told us the machine was now working, but it was too late. I was determined to enjoy my free travel. I noticed the machine was working fine for other passengers. Thank you, God, for being in control of time which you can move, speed up, slow down or freeze. ❤️

Obedience

"My times are in Your hand;" Psalm 31: 15 ---- After I had been meditating on  all my times in God's hand, I told Him I was planning to have lunch at this store the next day, then going to the library to study. The next morning, while I was getting ready, the Spirit told me He had revised my plans. First, I was going for a walk  through this park. He said after my recent bout of flu, I had been cultivating the attitude lately that I didn't have the energy to go for walks. He reminded me that I walk not by my powe or might but by His Spirit. (Zechariah 4: 6) Next, I was going to catch the bus up the hill which will take me all the way into town. I will then stop off at this cafe I've been to before to have breakfast. I will have an omelette with baked beans.  I shouldn't bother ordering bacon or sausage as I'm not going to like them. "What if you blessed them? Surely, I will like them?" I said. "No, just as you're never going to like avoc

Not too Early for Daffodils

No, it's not too early in the year for daffodils. At least, not for these ones at St James's Park. 😊❤️

Focusing on God in the Past

Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.." Lamentations 3: 22-23, NKJV "I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation." 1 Corinthians 6: 2, NIV "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever." Hebrews 13; 8, NKJV ---- A paradox. We are encouraged to live in the moment and yet the Bible that Christians draw inspiration from is based on the past. We follow Jesus's teachings and accept His salvation from 2,000 years ago and we draw inspiration from men and women of God who lived thousands of years ago. It just shows past, present and future are choices of mental focus.  In other words, I get to choose where I put my focus. So I choose to focus on Jesus's salvation and teachings in the Bible from the past and receive them now. I choose to celebrate all the good that God has done for me in the past and is doing for me in the pre

God's Constant Protection

"Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever." Psalm 23: 6 ---- On the first day after we had heavy snow in London (see video clip below), I had to pop out to buy some grocery. The shop is about 10 minutes walk away from home.  I prayed for God to get me there and back safely. When I got back, I realised something - though I know intellectually that God's goodness and mercy is everywhere I am, I still have that mentality that there are areas where I think I am more safe than others. That's simply not true. Just because I appear to be in a comfortable home doesn't mean I don't need God's protection.  What about those  times when I've nearly died in my sleep? If it wasn't for God's protection,  I would be a goner! That's why I need to constantly acknowledge that I live, move and have my being in God's Presence wherever I am. A few days later, when I went out, our l

About Time

"And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:" Mark 2: 27 "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth." Psalm 121: 1-2 ---- At the bus stop, I looked up and noticed the Live Bus Timetable was missing. I then heard this man talking to his wife about the missing timetable. "I was just thinking the same thing!" I said. "I reckon they have these timetables up to keep us on our toes," he said. "I agree, so we can always be thinking about time and be controlled by time, instead of enjoying the moment," I said. "The bus is either going to arrive or it isn't," he chuckled. "It's just like the temperature," the man's wife said. "Before smartphones, I never checked the temperature. Now I am constantly checking the temperature." "Me too," I grinned. "I do the same. As long

We Wrestle Not Against Flesh

"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." Ephesians 6: 12 "Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord." Romans 12: 19 ---- While I was out running my errands, I kept reminding myself of God's presence in me and working in me. At the shopping centre, the escalator wasn't working and we had to walk up. I thanked God for giving me His energy and it was effortless. On the bus ride home, I was very grateful for the heating. At one stop, this woman came on, sat near me  and opened the window. When our eyes locked, I could see pure vitriol in her eyes. It was like looking at the devil. After a few minutes, I asked her to close the window. "Why?" "Because it's cold, and I've just recovered from a cold."

Mighty Hand of God

"As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out, will I rule over you:" Ezekiel 20:33 ---- When I told my cousin that I hadn't been feeling well, he wrote: "God is in control. The mighty hand of God reigns over your life in the mighty name of Jesus Christ" I responded with an "Amen!" A few hours later,, while I was watching this YouTube video called "It's Supernatural" and receiving prayer, I found myself falling asleep. Suddenly, I felt a hand on top of my head. I knew it was the Hand of God that my cousin had mentioned earlier in his textt. Even when my eyes were open, I could still feel God's hand around my forehead. I felt His Hand on my head for about 10 minutes. Thank You, God, for revealing that You are not only in control of my life, You are always with me. ❤️
