Church of England School and Sunday School

Image
Yesterday, the deacon at the church I've been attending asked if I could assist in Sunday School, as she knows I already work in primary schools. The kids were being taught the Beatitudes. Today, I worked at my first Church of England school. What a relief to be at a school where the kids are encouraged to pray to God. The class teacher even asked me to read to the kids. One of the books I chose was about Daniel who was put in the lion's den because of his faith, but he trusted in God and the lions didn't touch him. I hope to work in more Church of England/Christian schools.

Tomorrow Will Worry about Itself

Image
"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble." Matthew 6: 34, NKJV "All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made." John 1: 3, KJV ----- On my way to church, I stopped off at this cafe to have some breakfast. As soon as I finished my meal, the assistant swiped my empty plate and cup away. I read it as a sign that they wanted me to leave as the cafe was getting busy. I wasn't ready to leave just yet. This customer came over and asked if she and her husband could share my table. I told her they were welcome to share the table. When they sat down in front of me I asked them if they were in London for the day. "How can you tell?" the man said. "I just knew intuitively." He told me they were from Buckinghamshire and were down in London because his wife was taking part in a 10K race next Sunday and they wanted to scout the area

Walk, Charity Shops and God's Patience

Image
"Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it." 1 Thessalonians 5: 23-24,, NKJV ---- I believe in any moment, I am either in my flesh (which comprise of my body and soul) or in my born again spirit which is one with the Godhead (Father, Son and Holy Spirit). A friend and I arranged to go for a walk. We used to work together so it was the first time we were going to be hanging out socially. When we met up this morning, we enjoyed each other's company. After the walk, she asked if I fancied exploring the charity shops in the area. I said okay. The first shop didn't have anything either of us were interested in. At the second shop, my friend saw a nice skirt and some jackets she liked. After trying them on, which looked great on her, she decided to buy the skirt and one jacket. She asked me if I'd see

Biblical Counselling, Beauty

Image
I was watching a programme on this Christian channel about Biblical counselling. The counsellor was soeaking to this young woman who unhappy with her looks because she believed she didn't meet the world's idea of beauty. The counsellor reminded her that believers in Christ do not follow the world's standards, but what the Word teaches. The counsellor referred his client to 1 Peter 3: 3-4. "Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight." The client really liked that idea of beauty of her inner self. I believe when you cultivate the "fruit of the Spirit" like love, joy, peace, kindness, goodness etc (Galatians 5: 22-23), those qualities shine through which make you beautiful. I am infinitely beautiful in Christ.

Faith in God

Image
I was chatting to some Christian friends about faith. I said I don't trust my faith or any human faith as it's never consistent. By this I mean, sometimes I have faith that God will come through and other times I doubt it. Sometimes I have faith in people amd other times I don't. I believe when I have faith in God's faithfulness, which is constant and rock solid, then it matters not how I am feeling. God’s faithfulness rules. Since our conversation, I've been humming the hymn., "Great is Thy Faithfulness."

God Shows My Favourite Films

As channel Film4 is constantly showing Star Trek and Mission Impossible films, I wondered if they were still streaming them as I fancied watching at least one of them. They were listed, but they were not available to watch. Nevermind! I spent the entire afternoon listening to Bible teachings. By early evening, I  was ready to watch a film. I checked to see if there were any interesting films on. I noticed they had just started showing the film "Mission Impossible 2" on Channel 4, which I really like. So I watched it. During the Ad breaks, they kept announcing that the next film coming up was "Infinite", which I've never heard of beforr. I thought it would be interesting to watch it. In the final scene of "Mission Impossible 2", Ethan and his love interest, Nyah, are reunited at this beach where they are surrounded by lots of people, but they only have eyes for each other, it was as if the people around them (the extras) didn't exist. That's wha

Reading Glasses, No Fear

Image
"Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power." Colossians 2: 8-10 "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." 2 Timothy 1:7 --- Anyone who knows me from childhood might remember that I've been wearing glasses since I was a kid. At school, I always had to sit very close to the blackboard  because of my poor eyesight. At one time, I was even losing my eyesight, but it was miraculously restored. I still had to continue to wear glasses though. I now have to wear glasses to read, but I can see fine at a distance. In the UK, if any member of your immediate family has had glaucoma, you are entitled to a free eye test if you are over 40 years old. I had a test d

Depending on God - Bus

During my bus journey, I was listening to a teaching by Creflo Dollar called "How to Completely Depend on God." (Creflo Dollar has been sorely tested over the years and has overcome). At the next bus station, I planned to catch two buses - one from this station and another in central London. I noticed another bus I don't usually travel on and I had the idea to get on that one as it was going all the way. I asked the driver if he was going near Warren Street and he said yes.  During the journey, I fell asleep, but I kept waking up to check where we were. I then fell into another deep sleep. When I opened my eyes again, the bus had just arrived at the stop I needed to get off at. So that's what it's like to completely depend on God. He gets you on the right bus and wakes you up when you arrive at your stop. Thank you, God, for getting me to my destination. ❤️

Man Opens Drink for Me

While I was on the bus, I took out my soft drink, but I found the lid was on too tight and I couldn't open it. I asked this guy sitting on the adjacent seat to open it for me and he did it easily.  When I thanked him, he smiled and said, "My pleasure." Later, as he was getting off the bus, he smiled warmly at me.  I  thanked him again and wished him a good day.  There's no shame in asking for help. I'm constantly asking men around me to open things for me when I can't.  They always seem delighted to be of service. Thank you God for creating men with big strong hands.😌 ❤️

Fear Not, God Loves Me

"It shall come to pass that before they call, I will answer; snd while they are still speaking, I will hear." Isaiah 65: 24 ---- When I woke up this morning, I spokr.to the Lord about an issue.  The answers I received in my thought were: "God loves me" and "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." 1 Timothy 1: 7 While I was having a shower, I continued to meditate on both ideas. As I was getting ready to go out, I looked at YouTube on my phone. I noticed two videos on my newsfeed called "Fear Not - Choose to Believe" and "The Power of God's Love" both by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome. I believe both videos were confirming the answers I had been given earlier. Thank you, God!  Answers noted! ❤️

Bumping into a Friend

"Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass." Psalm 37: 4-5 ---- I've been thinking of a previous work colleague who I used to enjoy chatting to and even travelled on the bus with from time to time. I was sorry I didn't get her phone number when I left that job. I needed some toiletries. I was wondering whether I should go to the shops after work or do it the next day.  I was inspired to go after work.  At the shopping centre, I went into the first shop to get my hair gel and makeup. I then headed to another shop to buy the rest of the toiletries I needed.  While I was looking for something,  I literally bumped into this customer in front of me. She turned round and I apologised to her.  I was astonished to discover it was my friend from work. We gave each other a warm hug. I told her I had been thinking of her and was sorry I didn't have her num

Father Provides Free Lunch

"Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you." Matthew 6: 33 ---- On the way to the school I was working at today, I wondered whether they had shops close by to get a sandwich for lunch.  I had to ask for directions as what was being shown on the Google Map was totally differemt in reality. Fortunately, the woman I asked was familiar with the area and the school I was going to. She even pointed out local shops I could go to to get my lunch. When I arrived at the school, I waa told we only have half an hour for lunch. I figured by the time I walk to the shops and back, lunch will be over. I'm not going to worry. If I can't get to the shops, I'll just wait till after school and get some food then. G

Church Inspiration

Image
I was inspired to start going to the Methodist church my mum used to attend. So I decided to watch their latest online service. During the service, the Reverend mentioned a church member who had sent in some beautiful flowets as a dedication to her loved ones. I recognised the name as my late mum's very good friend. After the service, I called mum's friend to see how she was.  I told her I'd just heard her name mentioned.  She told me my mum was one of the friends she had dedicated her flowers to. In fact, mum's name was first on the list. How wonderful! ❤️ Here's a photo of me and my mum's friend. It was taken before Covid.

Love Casts Out Fear on the Bus

Image
"There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love." 1 John 4: 18 ---- During my bus journey,  I heard this man at the back cursing and swearing. Let's just say he was being very offensive to a certain group of people on the bus, while his friends were agreeing with him. No one else said anything.  I decided to take action by coverimg myself and the bus with the Blood of Jesus whose Love, I believe, casts out fear. The man and his friends soon got off the bus. There was a couple sitting in front of me. As the bus windows were quite steamy, the man used his hands to wipe the window so they could see where they were. They realised they had arrived at their stop and quickly got off. I then noticed when the man had wiped the steam from the window, he had subconsciously drawn a  heart shape on the window. I had to take a photo. To me, that heart shape was a sign that Love was present in

Thanking God for My Meal

"in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." 1 Thessalonians 5: 18 "Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name!...Who satisfies your mouth with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s." Psalm 103: 1, 5 ---- Before I have a meal, I  always thank God for providing the meal. It occurred to me today that I am always full whether I'm just having a sandwich, a jacket potato or a microwave meal. I believe God blesses the food and makes it satisfying.  Today, I just had a cheese toastie (toasted cheese sandwich), which was very satisfying. Thank you, God! ❤️

Knowing about Jesus or Knowing Jesus?

Image
I can so relate to the meme below, which I saw on Facebook!  As a baby, I was baptised in a Church of England church. I attended Christian primary and secondary schools. As a kid, I attended church regularly.   As an adult, I attended different denominational churches sporadically. Because of my "Christian" background, I knew about Jesus intellectually, but I never knew Jesus. It was only when I accepted Jesus as my personal Lord and Saviour and became a born-again Christian that I started knowing Jesus. Now I can say I am a Christian. ❤️

Power Points

Image
"But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus." Philippians 4: 19 ---- When I went to the library, the entire building was closed because of some plumbing issues and they couldn't tell me how long it would be closed for. The next closest library is The British Library (our national library and one of the largest in the world). That library is always full of  researchers, students, tourists and waifs and strays like myself. I only go to that library if I'm really desperate. At that time of day, the seats with power points are usually taken. As it's only a walking distance away, I headed to The British Library as I was pretty desperate. 😁 As expected, the seats with power points were all taken, but there were several spare seats available. I wondered whether to go to the next closest library, but I didn't fancy the walk. I thought there has to be somewhere I can charge my devices in this massive building.  So I reminded
