I Choose to Focus on Jesus

"And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." Romans 12: 2 ---- I am constantly being bombarded with world views that are completely opposed to your Christian world view. The Bible tells us this world view or carnal mind is hostile towards God. (Romans 8: 6-7)  How does one deal with this hostility? While I was at my friend's place, I suddenly felt intense pain in my calf. When she noticed me wincing, she said, "What's wrong?" "Cramp," I said. "It must be very painful," she said. My friend is a nurse and doesn’t share my Christian belief. So I know exactly where she is coming from. I didn't agree or disagree with her. Instead, while I was massaging my calf, I was thinking of Jesus. We continued our conversation. Within a few minutes, the pain had dissolved. I told my friend my calf was now fine as Jesus had healed i

God's Provision

Image
"But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus." Pphilippians 4: 19 ---- The other day I was telling a work colleague that I haven't seen an actual Pound note in ages as I tend to use my debit card to pay for stuff. I've also been meaning to get a new scented candle.  When I opened a friend's birthday card, there was a crisp £20 note in it. I also received a scented candle as a birthday gift from my late mum's best friend.  I think it's wonderful how God meets my needs through different people. Lord, I am now open to also receive my heart's desires instantly "out of thin air."  Thank you for hearing me. ❤️

Birthday Lunch

Image
"Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us," Ephesians 3: 20 ---- A friend and I had planned to go out for lunch after church to celebrate my birthday.  When I saw her at church, she told me the restaurant we intended to go to was  closed on Sundays. She also said she was helping a group after church. Although I was disappointed, I figured we could go out another time. After the church service, which included a baptism, I went to hang out with some friends and church members. I had some cake which was provided by the baptism family.  One of the church ministers joined us and got everyone to sing Happy Birthday to me and another church member whose birthday is in two days' time. I was going to go home, but I decided to stay for a little while and chat to a church member I've never met before. While we were chatting my friend came in to look for me She told me the family who had the baptis

The Teacher

"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you." '---- While I was on the tube, I noticed this woman chatting to her young son who was about three years old . He kept asking her if she could remember different ages. She said she couldn't remember when she was aged three to four, but she could remember when she was ten. The woman asked him to count. The boy could easily count from one to ten, but stumbled when it came to the teens. She told him they were going to practice when they got on the train. The um and her son reminded me of my relationship with the Holy Spirit as He's constantly teaching me how the Bible applies to every day life. There's never a dull moment with him as He uses every opportunity to remind me of Jesus. Thank you, Holy Spirit, for making life fun and wonderful.❤️

A New Birthday in Christ

Image
When I woke up this morning, I wasn't feeling excited as I usually do on my birthday. I was even feeling depressed When I asked the Lord why I wasn't feeling it, He reminded me of the Bible verse I was meditating on yesterday about my true identity in Christ. ---- "I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the  life  which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me." Galatians 2: 20 "My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." Galatians 2: 20, NLT ---- Of course, now it makes sense. My old self celebrated birthdays as she had her own life separate from God. That old self is dead. Dead people don't celebrate birthdays! I have been born again in Christ and He is my life. The depression immediately

About Angels

Do I believe in angels? I have always believed in angels. Years ago when a van came from nowhere and almost ran me over, someone pulled me out of the way. I turned round to thank the person, but there was no one there, at least they were not visible to my senses. I believe I was saved by an angel. When I followed the New Age, the belief was you could call on angels to do your bidding. Some people even worshipped angels. As a Christian, I now follow the teachings in the Bible. Angels appear frequently in the Bible. In the Bible: - Angels are God's messengers. For instance  the angel Gabriel was sent by God to tell the virgin Mary that she had been chosen to be the mother of Jesus. (Luke 1: 19) - Angels are sent by God to protect His people or fight various battles.(Psalm 91: 11-12; Revelation 12: 7) - Angels are not there to be at people's beck and call. Instead, they act on God's word.(Psalm 103: 20-21) - Angels are not to be worshipped. If I have a need, I can

Biblical Meditation

Biblical meditation is totally different from secular meditation. When I practised secular meditation, it was about emptying the mind. What I didn't realise was I was inviting demonic spirits to enter.  (See Matthew 12: 43-44) No wonder I was often spiritually attacked and almost died on a few occasions. With Biblical meditation, you are focused on God and His laws and He fills you up with His Presence which drives away negativity. Thank you, Lord, for showing me how to meditate and fill me up with Your Presence. ❤️ ----- Related Bible verses "This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success." Joshua 1: 8 Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the la

What a Sweet Honey!

Image
"for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.’" Acts 17: 28 ---- While I was working at this arts shop, I was on my feet for several hours and my feet were aching. I reminded myself that I live, move and have my being in God, and God is Love. (1 John 4: 8) In other words, I am standing and walking in Love and Love doesn’thurt. About half an hour before my shift ended, this beautiful cat called Honey walked in. Apparently, she's become a regular as she accompanies her human mummy who visits the shop from time to time.  Honey was so sweet and affectionate, she loved everyone she met in the shop. I fell in love with her.  While I was cooing over Honey, I forgot about my aching feet. In fact, my feet were no longer aching. Thank you, God, for sending Your sweet love in the form of Honey. ❤️ Here are some photos I took of Honey

Forsaking All for Jesus

Before I had my hair cropped in 1992, I mulled over that decision for a whole year. While the hairdresser was cutting my hair, she looked at my reflection on the mirror and must have noticed the horror on my face. She told me if I wasn't sure, she could just do short back and sides and leave a bit of hair on top. I agreed with her.  The next day, I went to another hairdresser and asked them to take everything off. I haven't regretted that decision. In the same respect, before I arrived at the point where I could share my Christian faith in public, I mulled over it for over a year. I haven't looked back since. What can I say, I am a deep thinker. 😀 ------- Posted on.Facebook -14.8.2021 Friends, In case you haven't noticed, after a lot of soul searching, I have converted to Orthodox - Bible based - Christianity. By this I mean confessing myself as a sinner and that Jesus Christ died for my sins and by faith and grace I have accepted Jesus as my personal saviour. This mea

Surprise!

Image
While I was browsing YouTube, this random.video about the most iconic baseline of the 1980s popped up in my feed. I found it quite interesting as I used to love that song and still do. They used to play it a lot whenI used to go clubbing back in the day.  For me, the unexpected video represents God's Grace that He is constantly pouring on His children. Thank you, God, for the wonderful surprise. I love it! ❤️

Sweet Taste in My Mouth

"How sweet are Your words to my taste, Sweeter  than honey to my mouth!" Psalm 119: 104 ---- I wake up every morning with a sweet taste in my mouth that tastes like honey. According ro the Scriptures, God's words taste like honey. How sweet! ❤️

Immortal Invidible - Hymn

Image
I love this hymn as it describes God perfectly,  at least how I see and know Him. ----- "Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen." 1 Timothy1: 17 Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise Immortal, invisible, God only wise, In light inaccessible hid from our eyes, Most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days, Almighty, victorious, thy great name we praise. 2 Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light, Nor wanting, nor wasting, thou rulest in might; Thy justice like mountains high soaring above Thy clouds, which are fountains of goodness and love. 3 To all life thou givest, to both great and small; In all life thou livest, the true life of all; We blossom and flourish as leaves on the tree, And wither and perish but naught changeth thee. 4 Great Father of glory, pure Father of light, Thine angels adore thee, all veiling their sight; All laud we would render, O help us to see 'Tis only the splendor of li

Lost in Translation

Today, I volunteered as a visitor host, which entails giving visitors a guided tour around our church. Visitors come from all over the world and the UK. We provide written guides in various languages to meet their various needs. As we are aware visitors have different interests and time limits, before we start, we usually ask visitors what they're interested in or how long they have. When a colleague asked a visitor how long she had,  she said, "three days." She either has a lot of time to kill or she's lost in translation.  😀😀😀

Fighting for the Needy

"Defend the poor and fatherless; do justice to the afflicted and needy." Psalm 82: 3 ---- When I got on the tube, there were no available seats as the entire carriage was full of tourists.  I noticed this elderly man standing. I could sense he was uncomfortable.  On our public transport, there are always seats designated for the elderly, the disabled, parents with kids, and those who need a seat for other reasons. I walked down the carriage and spoke to the elderly man, I asked if he wanted to sit down as there was a priority seat he could have. He wanted to sit down. I went over to the tourists and pointed to the sign above one seat and asked him to give up for the eldely man as he had priority. One man gave up his seat and apologised to the elderly man, as he obviously didn't know how the system worked. The elderly man, who sounded American, thanked me. Before I got off, he waved goodbye to me. I was thinking if I hadn't spoken up for that elderly man, he would have

Unmerited Favours

"And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace." John 1: 16 ----- I believe God has a zillion ways to bless His children with unmerited favours.  Here's one example:  Today, I was booked to work as a host at an event at this art gallery. We were only there for two hours, but paid for four hours.  Thank you, God, for your infinite inmerited favours. ❤️

Sardine Omelette

I haven't had a sardine omelette in a long time. Made one today. Enjoyed it. Thank you, God, for your provision. ❤️

God Gives Me a Seat

On the way home, the tube was packed full.  Although I had my hand fan on me to keep me cool, I was still feeling uncomfortable standing up. An announcement came on that the tube was being held on the platform.  While we were waiting more people got on. I moved further down inside the carriage. I reminded myself that God was right there in the tube. Suddenly, this boy got up from the seat right in front of where I was standing and moved to the other part of the carriage.  I was so grateful to have a seat all the way to my destination.   Thank you, Jesus! ❤️

Bless Those Who Curse You

"Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you." Luke 6: 28 ---- While I was on the first tube, I thanked God for His infinite Grace.  I had to change to another line. I was grateful to find empty seats in that tube. I sat down.  While the doors were still open, this man got on and he said, ^I hope you all die of XXX." (I won't mention the actual disease). After that he got off. He was smirking at us through the window. I reckon he was looking  for a reaction, but everyone ignored him. The doors closed and we were off. I decided to share some of the Grace I had asked God for earlier with my friend and blessed him in my thoughts.  I have also added him on my prayer list.  Thank you, God, for your infinite Grace. ❤️

Working Less for More Money

At this venue I was working at, I got chatting to a colleague from the same agency. It turns out we had both been working at the same museum for several months, but we'd never met. We even attended their office party, but I was wearing a wig at the time. When I told her I was the one who was dragged on stage to dancee, she remembered me then. She said she recently left  her role. I told her I had left as well. After we finished our shift, I asked my colleague how her day had gone. She said it was very easy. We did less for more money compared to our last job. It got me thinking of this verse from the Bible: "The blessing of the Lord brings wealth without painful toil for it." Proverbs 10: 22, NIV I give thanks for the blessing of the Lord. ❤️

Shsring My Fan

Image
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God."  2 Corinthians 1: 3-6 ----- At this historical place I was working at, I had to patrol several rooms and ensure everything was tickety-boo. I noticed one visitor lying on a chaise longue. While visitors can sit on the furniture, I wasn't sure whether they could lie on them. I asked one staff and he said they weren't allowed, unless the visitor wasn't feeling well.  I went over and asked the visitor, who was now sitting up, if she was feeling okay. She told me she was feeling really hot. She and her friend were from New York and they were not used to being in buildings that didn't have airconditioning alhough there were fans around thre building.  I loaned her my hand fan which helped to keep her c

Shank"s Pony

Image
At the bus station, I noticed two community police officers waiting for a bus. I looked down at their shoes and wondered if they were comfortable as police officers do a lot of walking on the beat. My mum used to call it Shank's pony. 😀 I was reminded of the old  police TV series, "The Bill." I used to love watching the closing titles. I was mesmerised by the police officers' feet. Here's the closing titles I found on YouTube.  Love it! They don't make them like they used to. ❤️
