My Faith is in the Unseen
"By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible." Hebrews 11: 3
-----
I believe everything which is seen comes from the unseen realm.
When your faith is only in that which is seen, you get more of the same. When your faith is on the unseen, then the unseen manifests as your reality.
A week ago, while I was cooking some chips (fries) in the oven, the back of my hand rubbed against the oven. At first, I didn't give it any thought, but when it started hurting I realised I had burnt myself. I prayed for the pain to stop and it did, but it was obvious from the texture of my skin that it was burnt. I reminded myself that by Jesus' stripes, I am already healed. (2 Peter 2: 24). However, I was busy focusing on the mark on my hand (the seen).
On one bus journey, this woman sat next to me. We got chatting about our faith. She said she was raised as a Catholic, but she no longer believes in Christianity and follows another religion. She was trying to convince me why I should be open to other religions. I told her I have already been on the "journey" and studied different religions and I have now found my home in Jesus Christ.y
It was then I noticed she had a black mark on the back of her hand. I asked her what the black mark on her hand was. Had she burnt herself like I had? She said it was only ink and rubbed it off. She laughed and said I must be her twin.
It was time to stop focusing on the seen (dead skin) , and have faith in the unseen (the new skin that I know is underneath, even though it appears invisible to my senses).
Yesterday evening, I was stewarding at this classical concert. During the second half, it was my turn to sit in and watch the concert. At first, I was enjoying the performance, but then I switched off and started meditating on the Spirit in me that is giving life to my mortal bodies. (Romans 8: 11) I kept rubbing the dead skin on my hand and the top layer started peeling off.
After the concert finished, I noticed my colleague had a mark on her knuckle. When I asked her what it was, she told me it was a tattoo. I showed her the mark on my hand. She said it looked painful, but I told her it was already healed.7
Today, most of the dead skin has peeled away revealing the new skin underneath.
I give thanks to God's unseen realm that is the source of that which is visible. ❤️
