Working at the Film Festival
A couple of weeks ago, while I was chatting to a work colleague, he told me the film festival was on.
"Aww, I worked at that film festival last year. It's a shame I haven't been offered any shifts this year."
I didn't give the matter any further thought.
A few days ago, I emailed my agency and asked if they had any shifts for an art gallery I worked at recently. They said they didn't, but they could offer me a shift at an arts centre on Sunday. I decided to accept the shift and attend a service at a church close by after work.
When I arrived, I saw an old friend who is also registered at my agency, but is now a permanent member of staff at the arts centre. I asked her if she knew what was on. She told me I was very lucky as it was the last day of the film festival.
Usually, as a steward you get to sit in and watch half of the show and your colleague then watches the second half.
The colleague I was working with told me she watched the first film the day before. She said I could watch the entire first film and she could watch the next film. I was really grateful.
I was also grateful that it wasn't a red carpet event with the talents, as you have to watch your Ps and Qs at those events. I was glad the shift I was on was a lot more relaxed.
The film I watched was called "The Room Next Door." It was poignant and funny with great Oscar wining performances, in my opinion anyway. The topic is quite sensitive though.
Thank you, God, for giving me the opportunity to work at the film festival and with lovely work colleagues. ❤️
Here is the film's trailer.
