He is Risen

To celebrate Jesus's resurrection, we brought flowers to decorate the Cross. ❤️

Happy Easter!

 Happy Easter,  everyone! ❤️

Good Friday Tradition

When my mum was alive, she and I had this tradition where we always watched a film about the life of Jesus on Good Friday. (It's usually on one of the BBC TV channels). After my mum passed, I carried on the tradition and continued to watch a film about Jesus on the BBC on my own on Good Friday.  I have decided to break away from that tradition. Today, I am attending a Good Friday service at my church. After the service, we are going on a prayer walk to Trafalgar Square to watch a play about the life of Jesus. When I go home, I shall still watch the film on the BBCIplayer that BBC2 is showing today called  "The Robe" about the centurion who was in charge of the crucifixion and was so affected by the experience, he converted to Christianity. God bless you all! ❤️

It is Finished!

Image
"Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), Galatians 3: 13 ---- In the Christian calendar, Good Friday was Jesus' darkest day. While He was being crucified on the cross,  He took on board all of the curse, poverty, punishment, rejection, shame, sin, sickness, poverty and death of all of humanity for all time so that those who believe in Him will not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3: 16) Thank you, Jesus, for dying for me on the cross. ❤️ Image of the cross courtesy of Google Images, but I added the caption.

Happy Birthday, Mum!

Image
Thinking of you mum, Isa, on your earthly birthday. In Heaven I know there's no such a thing as birthdays, only ever new joy. Thank you for playing the role of my mum. Love you. ❤️

Dreaming of Flowers

Image
In my dream last night, I saw someone handing me a bouquet of flowers that looked like daffodils. When my flatmate came home from work today, she gave me a bouquet of flowers, but they were tulips.  I told her I had dreamt it. 😊 Thank you, God, for the flowers. ❤️ Photo of the tulips.

The Many Faces of Zeus

Image
While I was doing the chores, Zeus kept miaowing at me to feed him. (I'd only fed him.an hour before). I told him to wait till I had finished cleaning and mopping the kitchen floor.  After I fed him, he hopped on my bed. ❤️

A Sttrange Week

I've had a very strange week. On Monday night I had a nightmare where I was being stabbed in my heart by this demonic spirit. I tried to call out to Jesus, but I couldn't speak. I then called out to Jesus in my mind and the spirit disappeared.  This happened twice, but I was able to defeat it by thinking of the name of Jesus. (See Philippians 2: 9-11) For the last week or so, while I've been in the shower I've found myself humming the Anerican national anthem written by Francis Scott Key.  I know this because years ago when I visited a friend in Baltimore, she took me to Fort McHenry. I didcovered that Francis Scott Key had written the national anthem about Fort McHenry. We were even showed where he was when he wrote it. Every time I hummed the national anthem,  I was thinking, why on earth is the American national anthem in my head? Imagine how shocked I was a few days later when I saw in the news that the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore had collapsed. I am so sa

Love at the Bus Stop

When the bus arrived, we all queued up to get on. This man in front beckoned to this woman to go in front of him. The woman then beckoned to me to go ahead of her, but I insisted she get on in front of me. I believe what I had observed was Love in action. Imagine what the world would be like if we all put each others' needs first! ❤️  ---- "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres." 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7, NIV

Do Not Judge by Appearance

Image
"Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.” John 7: 27 ----- On my way home from work last night, I looked at the news website on my phone.  The leading headlines were about Catherine, the Princess of Wales who is in treatment for cancer. Although I was shocked, I wasn't surprised. Now it all made sense. A few weeks ago, when I saw those first photos Kate Middleton had shared of herself and her kids, there was something about it that didn't look right. It looked very AI to me. I was going to post on Facebook about it, but I was inspired to hold my peace.  I  did discuss the photo with a friend when we met up for lunch. It is human nature to judge by appearance and come up with theories based on those "facts." Jesus teaches His followers not to judge by appearance as we only see things in part.    Now we know more about Kate's back story. I'm still not going to judge as I don't have the full picture. God bless Kate Middle

Sharing Sweets

"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning." James 1: 17 ---- Usually while I am at work, I keep a packet of mints or sweets in the pocket of my trousers which I share with my colleagues. Yesterday I had a packet of sweets which  come in different colours ,(See link of the brand below).  While I was invigilating my section of the gallery, I kept thinking about offering a sweet to my colleague on the other side. When it was a lot quiter, I  walked over to her and asked her if she would like a sweet. As no foods and drinks are allowed in the gallery, we had to be very discreet. After she saw the brand, she told me  she had been thinking that the installation she was looking after reminded her of that particular brand of sweets. "There you go then," I said. "Your thoughts have been made manifest." Later when we moved to another area of the gallery, I off

Easter Eggs Sandwiches

Image
How wonderful to see an Easter egg in the form of a sandwich. I bought one for myself and another for my flatmate. (My flatmate loved the idea of it). The Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5: 22) includes self-control. Self-control  is going to make me wait till Easter to open my Easter Egg sandwich. Thank you, Lord, for blessing me and my flatmate with these sandwiches. ❤️ Photos of the Easter egg sandwiches

Training My Inner Child

"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22: 6 ----- I was chatting to a friend about when I used to work with young kids at primary school. I said I would teach them about, say, the importance of sharing the football. They would seem to take on board what I was saying. The very next day, the kids would  be fighting again over a football and I would have to repeat myself.  I had to keep repeating myself over and over again.  It was exhausting. I realised that must be what it's like being a parent.  My friend, who is a dad, said  haviing children involves repeating yourself over and over again. That's the only way they learn. It got me thinking about our Christian life. When you accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, your spirit is now one with Christ. However your mind remains the same.  In other words, you still have the same old wordly beliefs, thoughts and experiences of the non-believers. You have to keep

Bus Rides

Image
As I was off today, I took a Superloop bus from East London all the way to North Woolwich Ferry. It was my first time down that way   I then got a ferry across the river to Woolwich. (The ferry was free). A couple I was chatting to told me it was their first time in that area as well and on that ferry. Got a bus to North Greenwich, stopped off to have lunch at Ikea for their meatballs. I caught a bus from North Greenwich to central London and then got another bus up to North London. It's such fun travelling by bus. It's a great way to explore different parts of London. Next time, I'm in the area, I'll explore Greenwich park.❤️ Ps: For my American friends, Woolwich is pronounced wool-itch; and Greenwich is pronounced gren-itch. 😆

Sleeping Like a Baby

That moment when you're on the bus and fall asleep. You wake up and see the bus is  near the River Thames and heading towards  London Bridge station. Noooooo! That's not where I work! Why didn't you wake me up, Lord? "Freewill," He says. "Besides, you looked so cute asleep." Very funny, not! Just as well I always give myself lots of time. I can catch the bus back from the station. I  still arrived at work twenty minutes early. ❤️

SuperLoop Bus Routes

I recently discovered the new SuperLoop bus routes and wondered how they worked.  Yesterday, I found out.  At the bus station, I was going to catch a bus to this area, but I noticed there was a SuperLoop bus going to the same area. Why not try it out and see? The normal bus would have taken about 40 minutes to get to my destination, but on the SuperLoop bus, I was there in 15 minutes. That's because the SuperLoop reduces 40 stops on the normal bus to about 10 stops. Wonderful! When I have time, I'm going to travel on all SuperLoop bus routes so I get to know where they go. I am so grateful for our excellent public transport in London. ❤️

The Landlord

"The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein." Psalm 24: 1 ---- When I arrived home in the evening, my flatmate told me the boiler wasn't working, which meant we didn't have any heating. She said she'd texted our landlord but hadn't heard from him. She wasn't sure whether he was away or not. I told her I wasn't going to worry about it as I know it will be fixed. She loaned me her electric heater, which I used to heat up my bedroom. Before I went to bed. I prayed about the situation as follows.   "Father, it is written that "the earth is the Lord's" which means everything belongs to You. You are the Lord of all lands, which makes you our Landlord. Thank you for fixing the boiler in Jesus's name." I was so confident that the boiler was already working, when I woke up the next day I switched the heating on, but the boiler didn't come on. While I was having a shower I reminded myself

Mothering Sunday

Image
At the church I attended today, we were all given flowers to celebrate Mothering Sunday or Mother's Day. (See photo). The Deacon also offered prayers for those whose mothers are no longer with us. At the end of the service, I spoke to the visiting Deacon. It turns out we attended the same Methodist secondary school in Sierra Leone, though I didn't know her then as  she's three years younger than I.  When she mentioned a classmate she's still friends with, I told her I was in the same class as her friend's sister.  How amazing is that? Have a blessed Mothering Sunday!❤️ PS: Mothering Sunday always falls on the 4th Sunday in Lent, that's why it fluctuates so much.  This dates back to the middle ages. My Mum's Gift

Image
The greatest gift my mum gave me was her love of the Lord and her relationship with God through Jesus Christ.  It took me a while to accept that gift. Thank God I finally did. Thanks, mum! Love you. ❤️ Photo of my mum, Isa

International Women's Day

Image
While I was working at this art gallery, I noticed this guy greeting two women outside and giving both of them bouquets of flowers. I  thought to myself, I bet it's because it's International Women's Day (IWD). I wonder if he's from Russia where IWD is a public holiday? When they finally entered the gallery, I  was in the lobby. I  welcomed them and directed them to the different facilities. I asked the man if he was Russian.  He said he was Bulgarian and they give out flowers to women on IWD. He then handed me a rose and said, "I want you to have this. Happy Women's Day." "Aww, thank you!" I was really chuffed.  It's the first time anyone has given me a flower on IWD  It's not the kind of thing British men do. I will keep it as a souvenir.  ❤️ Photo of the rose

Forgiveness

Image
When Zeus came into my bedroom for a cuddle, I was busy on my phone responding to an email. He walked out. After I finished, I went looking for him.  I found him in the living room. When I called him, he not only ignored me, he turned his back on me. I apologised for not giving him my full attention earlier, but he was still upset with me. He silently asked me to let him out into the garden, which I did. I figured he needed time to cool off. Five minutes later, Zeus was back. He hopped on my chest and he was purring his heart out.  He even let me take this photo. All is forgiven. ❤️

Bloodshot Eye Healed

After I finished having a shower, I looked in the mirror and noticed one eye was red and bloodshot. I covered my eye with my hand and thanked God for my healing in Jesus' name. Although my eye still looked the same, I knew it was already healed. I then got ready as I had to pop out to the shops. On the way, I bumped into a friend. While we were chatting, she looked at my eye and asked me what was wrong. She said it looked like I had a certain condition. I told her I only noticed it this morning, but God is healing me. She then wished me well. I knew my friend meant well, but I didn't want to take on board her judgement so I reminded myself of the following Bible verse: "No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the Lord." Isaiah 54: 17 After a few hours, my eye was back to normal. That was yest

Travel Companion

"He who does not love does not know God, for God is love." 1 John 4: 8 ---- A couple of months ago, I saw this woman at the bus stop. We met at the bus stop before when there was a huge bus delay. This time, we decided to sit together on the bus. While we were chatting, we discovered we had a things in common including going for long walks.  We exchanged numbers. As she only lives a few minutes from me, we planned to go for a walk soon. The other day, I thought about my friend. Now that Spring is fast approaching, it will be nice to go for a walk with her when we are both free. This morning I decided to pop out to our local supermarket to buy some grocery as I'd run out of food.  As I was walking by the local bus stop, I saw my friend. After exchanging hugs, I told her I've been thinking about her. She said she intended to work from home today, but her Internet was down. As she has to do everything online, she was going to the office to work. I told her we must arrang

Drunk with the Holy Spirit

Image
If we are what we eat, then I must be wine, as I eat an inordinate amount of grapes. 😊 I am full of a different kind of spirit - the Holy Spirit. ❤️ "And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit," Ephesians 5: 18

Walking Up the Stairs

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Philippians 4: 13 ---- As I had arrived very early to volunteer at the Daffodil Day Service, one of the church elders asked if I could meet and greet guests who were arriving early. A lot of then were elderly and needed to be directed to the lifts. Later, I saw an elderly guest struggling to get up the stairs. I told her there were lifts available. She said she didn't like lifts and asked if I could help her. As I helped my friend up, I kept encouraging her until we got to the top.  I give thanks for Christ's strength which helped both of us get up those stairs effortlessly. ❤️

Some thoughts about the Daffodil Day Service

Image
"For as he thinks in his heart, so is he." Proverbs 23: 7 ---- The night before our church's Daffodil Day Service, where I was volunteering as a steward, I called a friend, who was also going to be a steward. In jest, I told her that as neither of us have done stewarding at a church event before, we might be asked to work at the balcony. My friend said she wouldn't mind. On the day of the service, both of us were allocated positions at different doors. I was with another colleague and she told me our door would be pretty quiet. We weren't even required to do offertory. While I was watching people arrive and take their seats,  I wondered whether some friends I had invited from another church were coming to the event. Suddenly, I saw a church elder speaking to my friend at the other door. He then came over and asked if he could move me to another position at the balcony.  I said I didn't mind. (I realised he had asked my friend, but she had declined). I wa

Jesus is the Healer

"they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” Mark 16: 18 ---- While I was working at this art gallery last night, I was chatting to a colleague. He told me he was experiencing pain in one arm. I asked if he wanted me to receive healing. He said yes. I lay my hand n his arm. After about a minute, I asked him how his arm was. He told me his arm felt lighter and pain free. "What have you done? Have you been working magic on me?" "It's not magic. Jesus said, if you lay your hands on the sick, they will get well. I'm just doing exactly what he said. He is the Healer, not me." He asked me if I could recommend any natural remedies for cold. I told him I don't use any remedies, I go to God for everything.  Before I finished my shift a few hours later, I asked my colleague how his arm was and he said it felt lighter. Thank you, Jesus, for being the Healer.❤️

Chnese Whispers

Image
Yesterday, I worked at this art gallery. In one gallery I was invigilating, I had to remind visitors not to lean on or touch the panels and they weren't allowed to sit on the floor. One woman said, "Yes, I get you.  No leaning on the floor." I said, "No, no sitting on the floor." It reminds of the game of Chnese Whispers when you whisper a word to someone and they have to pass on that message to another. By the time the message get back to you, it's a totally different word. 😄 Thank you, Holy Spirit, for helping me to understand everything.❤️ ---- Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall [a]direct your paths.  Proverbs 3: 5-6 Photo courtesy of Google Images

Happiness ot Joy

I believe there is a vast difference between happiness and joy. Happiness is a human emotion that fluctuates according to your circumstances. In other words, if you like what is happening to or around you,  you are happy, if you don't like what is happening, you are miserable. Joy, on the other hand, comes from God and is not influenced by circumstances.  You're always in joy, regardless. I give thanks for the Joy of the Lord in me, which is my strength.  (Nehemiah 8: 10) Amen. ❤️ "You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore." Psalm 16: 11
