Black Swan

Image
A week ago, I chatted to a friend I met on set about the movie, "Black Swan." Today, while I was walking in the park with another friend, we spotted a black swan feeding on the grass. It's the first time I've ever seen one. I thought it was beautiful. After I filmed it, I realised the clip wasn't saved. I was really disappointed.    When we walked to the other side of the park, I saw a black swan. I'm not sure if it was the same one. After I filmed it, I made sure I had saved the clip. Thank you, swan! ❤️ Here are some more photos I took at St James's Park.

Earbuds

Image
I have finally joined the millennials and younger generations -  I now have earbuds. The instructions made no sense to me so I had to watch YouTube videos how they work. I'm still learning how to operate the volume, etc. Thank you, God, for your provision. ❤️

Unconditional Love

Image
(Previously posted on Facebook on 29.4.2022) "Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom." Luke 12: 32 ---- I've never been a parent, but I believe those who are parents will be able to relate to this. My mum used to ask me why I liked Star Trek so much and I told her the same reason why she loved Coronation Street, the British TV soap.😆 Although mum couldn't relate to Star Trek, she did fall in love with Captain Janeway from Star Trek Voyager and lthe greedy aliens called the Ferrengis. It really didn't matter to mum what the episodes were about, she got great joy from the fact that I was enjoying myself.  I see that with parents who enjoy supporting their kids, even though they haven't a clue why their kids love what they love. ❤️ Photo taken at a Star Trek convention in London

In the World But Not of the World

"I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world." John 17: 15-16 ---- The school I was working at today was only about 10 to 15 minutes walking distance from home which made a nice change. On the way home, I had to cross this particular side atreet that had lots of cars parked on the rosd that were blocking my vision. I made sure the road was perfectly clear before I crossed. Later, my flatmate had to go out so she booked a cab. She told me she had noticed an air ambulance helicopter. When my flatmate returned home, she told me when she went out to get her cab, the main road was closed and she couldn't reach the cab. She had to cancel and order another cab. She told me the reason why the road was closed was because a kid had been run over and died at the scenr. That's why the air ambulance had arrived. Apparently, the accident had happened on the

What a Wonderful Surprise!

Image
"Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” 1 Corinthians 2: 9 ---- When I woke up, I heard a voice within saying "I have a wonderful surprise for you!" Thank you, Lord, I look forward to it, I thought. It was the day of the teachers' strike and schools were closed. I didn't feel like going out. I decided to stay home and just relax. Later in the afternoon, I received a text from an old school friend who I haven't heard from in a while.  Just recently, I was looking through sone old photos of us taken many years ago. I also showed my new flatmate some photos I  had taken years ago with the same friend to celebrate our 50th birthday. In her text, my friend asked me what I was doing. I told her I had a day off and was home. I also told her I had recently moved to a new area. She texted me back to let me know she was actually visiting someone in my local area. I invited her t

Teachers' Strike

"For none of us lives to himself, and no one dies to himself." Romans 14: 7 ---- Teachers are on strike again today and next Tuesday. When teachers are disgruntled and go on strike, other parts of the system are also affected such as: - pupils who miss out on teaching; - parents who have to take strike days off (paid or unpaid) to care for their kids or pay for childminders;  - staff who support teachers as they have to take time off unpaid;  - agencies who supply teaching staff; - public transport as there will be less people travelling.  I'm sure there are others I can't think of right now. Thank you, God, for a speedy resolution to this dispute in Jesus name.❤️

Grateful for Christian Channels

(Previously posted on Facebook on 28.4.2022) "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." Mark 16: 15 ---- I believe the best thing about the Internet and social media is it enables the Gospel to be shared with billions of believers and non-believers all around the globe. This means you can attend Church wherever you are in the world.  I connect online with ministries I find inspiring via TBN and the God Channel. I'm so grateful to my mum for introducing me to these Christian channels, though I didn't appreciate them at the time.  Thank you, Jesus, for giving us the Gospel. ❤️

Meeting All Sorts on Set

While doing SA (supporting artist or extra) work, you get to make friends with people you don't usually meet in your every day life. The last shoot I was on, I got chattiing to this lovely lady who used to be a ballet dancer. I told her I have watched the movie, "Black Swan" with Natalie Portman. She told me it's her favourite movie and her feet used to bleed just like the character  The only famous ballet dancer I know of is Mikhail Baryshnikov. I asked her if she'd worked with him and she said yes, he was very professional. She told me about how  ballet dancers have to retire in their 40s as they can't compete with the youngsters. That's why I love SA work. You meet all sorts. ❤️

Created for His Pleasure

Image
"Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created." Revelation 4: 11 ---- Before I left home this morning, Zeus (my flatmate's cat), came into my bedroom and sat on my bed and let me pet him. He was so content, he even let me take some photos. I thought about how much pleasure our pets give us and in return, we take care of them and give them shelter. It got me thinking about that verse in the Bible that all things were created for God's pleasure. Pets were created for human pleasure. Thank you, God, for creating me for Your pleasure. I know I don't always do things to please You, but I know you love me anyway. ❤️

My Forever Love

Image
I need to reassure Leslie (the tedfy bear I inherited from my mum) that despite the fact that I have a new cat love in my life, he still has all my love. ❤️

Forever Green

Image
"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." Hebrews 13: 8 ------ Although I love all trees, the trees I can relate to the most are  the evergreen trees which never change. I am forever green in Christ. ❤️ Photo of a tree I took.in north London.

God is Good

"Be still and know that I am God." Psalm 46: 10 "And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;" Isaiah 11: 2 "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning." James 1: 17 "Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth." 3 John 1: 2 ---- Since I moved into my new home, I have a new routine during week days. Around 5am, I wake up to use the toilet and then let the cat out. I then go back to sleep for about an hour. I then wake up at 6am to watch Bible study till I have to leave for work. I obviously change ny routune when I'm filming and have to leave very early. On Saturdays and Sundays, after letting the cat out, I have a bit of a lie-in and wake up at 7am. On

Like Minds

Image
The other day, I listened non-stop to this soul classic from the early 1980s, "Rising to the Top" by Keni Burke. Today, I heard someone playing the same song in their car. Amazing! Love it! ❤️

When God Gives You the Headsup

"But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one. For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ." 1 Corinthians 2: 14-16 ---- On the way home from church, I had a thought that a particular agent from this teaching agency was going to text me about a job. When I arrived home, I received a text from him asking if I was available on this particular day to work at this Church of England primary school. I told him I was. How did I know he was going to text me? I didn't know, but the Holy Spirit in me does.  Thank you, God, for giving me the headsup.❤️

Telepathy

Image
I woke up around 5am to use the toilet. I saw Zeus sitting outside my bedroom door.  I knew he wanted to go out. After petting him, I let him out. When I went back to bed, I could hear Zeus's purr. I opened my eyes to check if he was in my bedroom. He obviously wasn't physically there, but he was there in spirit. When I closed my eyes, I saw an image of Zeus staring at me. All the cats I have known and lived with have been telepathic. I guess Zeus is no different.  😀 Ps: Zeus does have an emergency cat litter tray in case he needs to go, but he won't use it. He prefers to wake up his humans in the middle of the night to let him out  😀

Film Shoot

Before I left home for the film shoot, I thanked God for taking me there and back safely, for being in control of the prooduction and fir making the day fun and wonderful. I also thanked God for dry weather while filming. When we arrived at the crowd base and were waiting to be called into Costume and Hair and Makeup, it started chucking it down.  It was still raining while we were being transferred by bus to set so we all wore ponchos.   Althougj the rain stopped when we started filming, it was quite dull and dreary.  At one point, I was asked to move into a certain position. Right where I was standing, the sun came out right above me. It was like I was in the spotlight. It even felt warm. I thanked God for the sunlight. Later on, it started raining so we had a break and a few of us went to sit in a local pub. After about half an hour, we were called back on set. Although it wasn't raining, it was still grey. I  told a colleague that they could have waited for it to get brighter.

He Loves Me, Yeah...

Image
My new flatmate, Zeus, has found his sweet spot - on my bed.  He loves me, yeah, yeah yeah. With a love like that, I know I should be glad. ❤️😊 (Adapted from the Beatles song).

Deliver Me from Maths!

Image
I worked at my first secondary school today. At first, I didn't want to take the job on as I didn't feel I was equipped for that level, but my agency assured me they had teaching assistants in that school and I will be fine. Before I left, I thanked God for His Grace and for showing me the way. The school has this system where they send teaching assistants to support pupils with learning difficulties for an hour and a half and then move them to another class. I find it can be draining working one to one with the same pupil all day, so I thought this was a good system. My first class was with a  pupil in a science class who wasn't particularly motivated, but I managed to get her to do some work before she went back to her drawing. She even drew a picture of me. The next pupil I was sent to  support was in the English class.  She didn't want to work so I worked with other pupils in the class instead. After lunch, I was sent to support a pupil in this maths class. I was to

God is in Control

"Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all. Both riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all. In Your hand  is  power and might; In Your hand  it is  to make great and to give strength to all." 1 Chronicles 29: 11-12 ---- Sometimes, we think we are making decisions based on our freewill, but are we really? A few weeks ago, I asked a friend if he would help me move my stuff when the time came. He said he would think about it as he wasn't too keen on driving from south London to north London where I lived. He knew I would stay in north London and even offered to pay towards the removal. I told him I understood if he couldn't make it. When I didn't hear from my friend for a while, I decided I would just hire a van when I was ready to move. A few minutes after I found my new plac

One Body of Believers in Christ

Image
"There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all." Ephesians 4: 4-6 "where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all." Colossians 3: 11 "I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints," The Apostles' Creed ---- All members of the catholic or universal Church believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, who was born of the virgin Mary, was crucified, died, waa buried and was raised from the dead and ascended into Heaven. They also believe Jesus was born to be the sacrificial "Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world." (John 1: 29) The Church has Three main denominations: Catholic (Roman Catholic and other Catholic), Orthodox (Eastern and Oriental) and Protestants (which

God's Promises are Yes and Amen

Image
Reminder to self: "You may be asking why I changed my plan. Do you think I make my plans carelessly? Do you think I am like people of the world who say “Yes” when they really mean “No”? As surely as God is faithful, our word to you does not waver between “Yes” and “No.” For Jesus Christ, the Son of God, does not waver between “Yes” and “No.” He is the one whom Silas, Timothy, and I preached to you, and as God’s ultimate “Yes,” he always does what he says. For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” (which means “Yes”) ascends to God for his glory." 2 Corinthians 1:17-20, NLT

God Provides for Our Needs in Advance

Image
“It shall come to pass that before they call, I will answer; and while they are still speaking, I will hear. Isaiah 65: 24 ---- After my aunt's funeral, my brother drove a few of us to the community centre where the reception was taking place. By the time we arrived, there were no free parking spaces available. I silently thanked God for a parking space. My brother suggested for the three of us to go in and reserve a table and he and his friend would scout the local neighbourhood for a parking space. When we entered the community centre, I went to use the toilet. It was then I realised I'd been there recently. Just two months ago, I discovered this place called Woodberry Down with a  reservoir and nature reserve  which I explored. I even took some photos. I then noticed this community centre which had a library. I went in and charged my phone. I even used their toilet. Little did I know that in two months time, I would be attending a reception for my aunt at the same commu

God Always Make a Way

Image
"Behold, I will do a new thing,Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert." Isaiah 43: 19 "And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.' Philippians 4: 19, NKJV "Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.," Ephesians 3:20, NKV ---- Before I started looking for a new home, I prayed about it by thanking God for already providing it. I also had some friends standing with me in prayer.  I had an idea what I was looking for like a nice green, quiet and safe neighbourhood and local amenities like shops, good public transport, close to a park and a local library. I then trusted in God to orovide. I took practical steps like putting the word out for anyone looking for a flatmate. I was also inspired to join this website that specialises in finding flatmates, but yo

God Knows Everything

Image
"The eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good." Proverbs 15: 3 ---- After church, I went to see a friend, who works at this museum. After we had a long chat, I went to sit and read in the museum's Reading Room. It was then I realised I had forgotten my Power Bank at home. I had my charger with me, but as the library was closed, you are not allowed to charge your devices anywhere else in the building. I asked God to increase the charge on my phone. I remembered there was this local cafe still open where I could charge my phone, but I had to buy a sausage roll and a drink to use their charging facility.  After charging my phone for about half an hour, I returned to the museum's Reading Room to relax. I was still aware that the charge on my phone was running low and tried not to use my phone. On the way home, I had a thought to travel home using a different route. The bus I got on actually had charging points on it so I was able to char

What the Resurrection Means to Me

Image
If Jesus wasn't resurrected from the dead, Jesus would just have been seen as a good man who went about doing good works and was crucified for his beliefs. Without the resurrection, there would be no Christianity I.e. no opportunity for believers to have a personal relationship with the Father God through the shed blood of Jesus on the Cross. That's why Easter is important to believers and followers of Jesus. Thank God for Jesus Christ. He is not only risen, He is my living God who lives forever. Hallelujah! ❤️ Photo taken of the Cross at the Easter service at Methodist Central Hall, Westminster

My Core Beliefs

Despite their denominational differences, all Christians (who accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour) share  core beliefs called "The Apostles' Creed, which I have memorised since I was a kid. I believe every single line of this Creed. ---- The Apostles' Creed I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; He descended into hell; on the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from there He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church,* the communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen. * The "holy catholic church" refers to the universal Church, not the Roman Catholic chur

Spiritual Veil

"You  are  my hiding place and my shield; I hope in Your word." Psalm 119: 114 ---- Yesterday, while I was in the library, I noticed this woman who I know, but I didn't want her to see me as I didn't want to have a conversation with her. I asked God  to hide me so she couldn't see me. I then adjusted my chair so I wasn't looking directly at her. I focused on what I was doing. After a few minutes, I looked up and she was no longer there. Many years ago, I used to go to another library. There was this woman who used to make a beeline for me and wanted to chat all the time. I could tell she had a mental illness. Sometimes, I would just sit there and listen and feel really energetically drained. The next time I was going to the library, I was worried about seeing that same woman. I asked God to hide me from her so she can't see me. When I walked through the door, the first person I literally bumped into was the woman I was trying to avoid. She looked righ

Happy Easter - We Love You, Lord!

Image
"Then, as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee, saying, ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.’ ” "And they remembered His words." Luke 24:5-8 ---- While the bus I was in was going past this church, I noticed this woman standing beside me doing the Sign of the Cross.  I asked her if that was her church. She said she was a Christian and attended that church.  I asked her what denomination it was and she said it was Greek Orthodox.  I told her I was Christian too. She asked me which church I attended and I told her. She said she was attending a service this evening (Thursday) and tomorrow (Good Friday). I told her I will be attending the Easter Sunday service. When my friend arrived at her stop, we wished each other Happy Easter. A

April Fool

Image
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." Proverbs 3: 5-6 ---- April 1st is traditonally known as April Fools' Day or "All Fools Day", when people play practical jokes on each other up to 12 noon. Someone who plays jokes after 12 noon is called an April Fool. I once played a practical joke on someone very close to me, but it didn't go down too well. It happened many years ago while I was temping for this company in the city. After I came back from lunch, I put my handbag in the drawer and returned to work. At some point when I went to get something from my bag, I couldn't find it. So I called on security. The security guard asked me where I had put the bag and I pointed to the drawer on the right where I always put it. After doing a thorough search he concluded that my bag had been stolen. I was quite livid that with all that tight security someone ha

Weddings, Godparents and God's Word

"The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever.” Isaiah 40: 8 "All flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, and its flower falls away, But the word of the Lord endures forever.” 1 Peter 1: 25 ---- Isn't it amazing how you can participate in someone's very important life event and yet it means nothing to you? I once met one of my mum's friends who reminded me I was one of her bridesmaids at her wedding. I told her I didn't remember her or her wedding. Actually, I vaguely remember two weddings where I was a bridesmaid. That's only because I had seen photos of my younger self in bridesmaid dresses, which I no longer have access to, unfortunately. I have no recollection of who the couples were, where the wedding took place, or the celebrations after. I presume the brides were my mum's friends and I looked adorable in my bridesmaid dresses.😊 Mum told me I was baptised at
