Magnifying Glass

The last time I worked at this gallery, the fonts on their shift schedule was so tiny, I can't  even read it with my reading glasses. I decided to get a magnifying glass. I went to buy one from this ironmongers that sells everything, but they told me they were out of stock. I then went to the chemist next door and asked if they sold magnifying glass. The sales assistant started laughing. I wondered what was so funny. One suggested I try the ironmongers next door. I told her I already have. They told me they couldn't help me. Later, while I was chatting to my friend, I mentioned to her that I needed a magnifying glass. "What about your smart phone which seems to do everything?" she said sarcastically. "Surely there must be an app for it?" "Of course! Why didn't I think of that?" I soon downloaded a magnifying glass app, which I shall use to read the shift schedule.  Now it made sense why those shop assistants were laughing at me. They probably t

No Missed Opportunities

"For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8: 38-39 ---- The other day, I was having a nice chat with a work colleague at this art shop. When it was time for my shift to finish, I didn't see her and I was sorry I didn't get to say goodbye. The next day, I had a shift at this art venue. When I  came in, it took me ages to find who I was supposed to report to. While I was speaking to someone, I heard someone calling my name. It was my colleague from the previous day's shift. She said she was sorry we missed each other.  She told me she was on her lunch break and she decided to find a nice quiet spot to relax.  If she hadn't found this spot (that she has never been to before), we wouldn't have seen each other. Today at church, I

Grace in Action

"And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace. For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ." John 1: 16-17 "Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord," 2 Peter 1 :2 --- Our Lord Jesus not only revealed God as the Father, He embodied God's Grace. Grace is not earned, nor do you receive it because you deserve it.  God's goodness and mercy are given by grace through Jesus Christ.  As Grace pours on you, you are inspired to extend grace and unmerited favours to others . Before I got on the tube, I checked how much money I  had left on my Oyster card. I noticed this woman on the next ticket machine trying to get a ticket with her bank card, but nothing csme out. I asked if I could help her. I told her she needed to get an Oyster card first and then top up the card. I also said she didn't need to buy an Oyster card, she could just use her debit card to travel. I su

Vintage Clothing

The other day, while I was working at this art gallery, I chatted to my young colleague. She said she loved vintage clothing like the ones her mum used to wear. Given how young she was, her idea of "vintage" was probsbly what I was wearing 30 years ago. She did make it clear that she wasn't calling me "vintage." 😀 I told her I have this jacket that she might like. I promised to bring it the next time we are working together. Today was the day. When I saw my young friend, I told her I had a vintage jacket for her which is now too tight for me. She really liked it and it fitted her like a glove. I actually got that  jacket from a charity shop.  She said she loves buying clothes from charity shops. I'm really happy the jacket is  now going to soneone who is going to appreciate it as a vintage clothing. Be happy, jacket!  ❤️

My Father Knows My Needs

"Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you."  Matthew 6: 31-33 ---- During my bus journey, the bus driver announced that there was a problem with the bus. She asked all of us to get off at the next stop and get on the bus in front. A passenger who hadn't heard the announcement asked me what was going on. I told her we had to get off and get on the next bus. As I was getting off, I tapped this young girl, who had her earbuds on and wasn't aware of what was going on. I told her we had to get off. Once everyone was off the bus, the bus driver walked to  the empty bus in front, opened the door and told us to get on. She said we didn't need to scan our passes. In the Bible, Jesus tells His believe

Keeping Me Cool

Image
On the tube, I was browsing my phone. I was also feeling hot and bothered. Suddenly, something fell out of one of my bags on to the floor.  I looked down and saw my fan. I picked it up, switched it on and fanned my face for the entire journey. Thank you, God, for keeping me cool. ❤️

Entertainment

While I was working at this art shop, I noticed this woman sniffing some scented candles. After a few minutes, she was joined by a man who I presumed to be her husband. The woman picked up a candle and asked him to sniff it. "What do you think?" she said. The man' had a look of disinterest. "You don't care, do you?" I said. Both of them burst out laughing.  "It's just a candle," he said. His wife decided to get the candle anyway. A young couple walked in and the woman walked straight to the soft toys for babies. While she was oohing and aahing over them, her boyfriend was busy on his phone.  You could tell he had no interest whatsoever.   After a while I walked over to him and asked if he had chosen a toy for his girlfriend yet. He said they were looking for a gift for a friend. I like how he had used the pronoun "they." 😊 The woman finally picked a soft toy that looked like a cake and told me she was getting that. I never realised I

God Calns the Storm

Reminder to self: Psalm 107: 23-32, NKJV 23 Those who go down to the sea in ships, Who do business on great waters, 24 They see the works of the Lord, And His wonders in the deep. 25 For He commands and raises the stormy wind, Which lifts up the waves of the sea. 26 They mount up to the heavens, They go down again to the depths; Their soul melts because of trouble. 27 They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, And are at their wits’ end. 28 Then they cry out to the Lord in their trouble, And He brings them out of their distresses. 29 He calms the storm, So that its waves are still. 30 Then they are glad because they are quiet; So He guides them to their desired haven. 31 Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men! 32 Let them exalt Him also in the assembly of the people, And praise Him in the company of the elders. NB: This video clip is from Frameless Gallery Immersive Art:  "Christ in the Storm on th

Costume Drama

I did my first costume drama. When I came home from filming, my body was aching all over from wearing a corset, pads around my hips and heavy garments. I relaxed in bed and watched Christian testimony videos on my laptop. Gradually, the pain eased off. Thank you, Jesus. ❤️

Praying Removes Obstacles

"...pray without ceasing," 1 Thessalonians 5: 17 ---- When I woke up, I thanked God for the day and for blessing everyone in the production  I also thanked Him for taking me to the studio and back safely and for making the day go well. I surrendered everything to Him. I had planned to leave home at 3am to catch a night bus.  At 2.45 am, I checked the arrival times and saw there was a bus due in 5 minutes. As I'm ready, why not leave and catch that bus? Next door to our flat is a petrol station. The first thing I noticed was a police car. There was also a motor cycle on the ground and a car next to it. Presumably,  there had been an accident and the victims had been taken to the hospital. I was able to pass through to the bus stop. I sent blessings to the people involved in the accident. The first bus that was due didn't come. When the next bus that was due didn't arrive, I wondered if there was now a diversion because of the accident.  I asked one police officer

Blessed to Be a Blessing

Image
"Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith." Galatians 3: 13-14 ---- Last week while I was at a costume fitting, I chatted to a fellow supporting artist (SA) who I recognised from some previous shoot(s) that I can't even remember now. 😀 When he told me where he lived, I said I had been working at a school in that area and I didn't live that far. I asked him if he could give me a lift to the next fitting, which was out of London. We didn't finish the conversation as he got called in to de-rig (take costume off). After I got de-rig, I got on the minibus to the local train station. When I received confirmation for the fitting out of London, I decided as I've never been to that area before, I would get there early and explore the

God Orders My Steps

Hi"The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way." Psalm 37: 23 ---- I've been going to this particular library and using their reading room for the last seven years. Thr first time I went there, I noticed this road which has the same name as an old friend's surname. It made me think of her. Two days ago, I went to the reading room. I ended up chatting to a friend who works there as a security guard. I told her I needed to do some food shopping. I also needed  sone kitchen rolls and toilet rolls, but I knew the food store would not have it. My friend suggested I could go to a supermarket close by for the kitchen and toilet rolls. When I got out of the building, I wondered whether to go to the food store near the train station or to their other store up the road. I decided to go to the other store. On the way I will check out the supermarket that my friend had recommended.  On the way, this man approached me and asked if I knew this place

My Heart's Desire

Image
Since I moved into my new home, my flatmate has been telling me about this local park, which is close by, but I've been travelling to parks further afield. Today, I finally went to the park. I'm amazed we live so close to this wonderful park. I'm reminded of the lesson  Dorothy (from the film  'The Wizard of Oz") learns after getting lost in Emerald City:  "if I ever go looking for my heart's desire again, I won't look any further than my own backyard; because if it isn't there, I never really lost it to begin with." Love this park.  I shall be spending more time here. Thank you, God for  this park.❤️ Here are some photos I took.

God Rules!

"The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein." Psalm 24: 1 ---- When I woke up this morning at 5.30 am, I switched my laptop on. I then logged on to the GodTV website to watch the live UK programmes.  Usually, around that time  they have music on, which I'm not into. I usually mute the sound and have a snooze until 6am when I turn the sound on to listen to the pastors I follow. This time, the channel didn't come on. I switched on the channel on the GodTV app on my phone, but a notice came on that there was a problem. I went back to my laptop. Usually when GodTV UK is not working,  the Africa one is off too. Presumably, they share the sane satellite. I then watch USA, Australia or Asia.  This time, none of them were working.  How strange! The devil's been busy, today. 😀 I thought, God, it is written that the earth, the fullness and everyone belongs to you. (Psalm 24: 1) You rule in the kingdom of men. ( Daniel 4: 32).Your c

Guardian Angel

While we were waiting to cross at the traffic light, I noticed this teenage kid crossing over. He was so engrossed on his phone, he didn't see this car approaching. I screamed at him to look out and he ran across. A young lady, standing next to me, shook her head and said, "social media." 😊 I knew exactly what she meant.  Later, when I crossed over, I caught up with the kid, touched his arm  and told him to be careful. He apologised. I feel like his guardian angel. May God protect that kid wherever he goes! ❤️

Mind Games

I was chatting to a friend aboutt her grandmother who is suffering from dementia. She said her nan, who is now in a care home, has deteriorated so much that she doesn't remember anyone including her husband and kids.  My friend said before her nan had dementia, she was often ill and taking all kinds of medication.  Since she lost her memory, she no longer has all the ailments she used to have.  My friend said the last time she saw her nan, she asked her about the arm she had fractured, but her nan couldn't remember as the arm was now healed. My friend said if it wasn't for the dementia, her nan would be considered to be in perfect health.she 9 I told my friend if only her nan could forget the dementia, she would be free of it. ❤️ It just shows all diseases are happening in mind.

Spirit is the Boss

"Be still, and know that I am God." Psalm 46: 20 "The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Mark 14: 38 "For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit." Romans 8: 5 ---- I got on the bus around 9.15am. During the journey, I started feeling stomach ache signifying I needed to do number two.  As it was too late to return home, I  started fantasising about places I could go to do my business  I could stop off at the shopping mall. A cursory Google search told me the mall wasn't open till 11am, as it was Sunday. Maybe, I could go to my friend who lives close by and ask to use.his toilet. Knowing him, he's bound to be at his girlfriend's. How about stopping off at this fast food restaurant? They will be open.  When I got off the bus to catch my next bus,  I noticedI the restaurant was right opposite the bus stop. Why not go in and use their t

Seeing with Faith

(Previously posted on Facebook on 15.7.2021) "Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." Matthew 3: 2 "But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned."  1 Corinthians 2: 14 "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen....Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear." Hebrews 11: 1, 3 ------ A friend took me to the "Alice: Curiouser and Curiouser" exhibition at the V&A Museum, which was wonderful. One of my favourite parts of the exhibition was entering the virtual reality (VR) world of Wonderland. When I put the VR goggles on, I was shown a book whidh I opened up with my virtual hand. Then I was able to explore a bit of Wonderland. Attached is a video clip that my friend made of me w

Trust in God, Not Your Qualifications

(Previously posted on Facebook on 15.7.2022) "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him,and He shall [a]direct your paths." Proverbs 3: 5-6 ---- Today, my colleagues and I took some of our learners out for recreation. While we were waiting at this bus stop for our bus, I chatted to the learner who was assigned to me. He uses Makaton and a device to communicate and I respond verbally, which he can understand.  I noticed this woman at the bus stop smiling at us. She told me I was very good with him. She said she had a 13 year old autistic boy and she has been looking for a carer for him. When our bus arrived, my learner and I sat at the back and we continued our conversation. This man sitting  near us was also watching us. He told me he was very impressed with the way I was interacting with the learner. He said not many people could do that kind of job. He also said he was a trained nurse and could see how co

Give and You Will Be Given

(Previously posted on Facebook on 15.7.2022) "Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” Luke 6: 38 ---- The other day, while I was in the ladies' toilets at work, a colleague asked me if I had any deodorant.  I happened to have one in my handbag and I passed it to her.  After spraying some, she told me she liked it. I told her what shop I had bought it from. She said she will look for it next time she goes to that store  I made a mental note to get some for her. Today when I saw her, I told her I  was going to get a couple of those deodorants for her. She thanked me and said I was very sweet. Later, I decided to get some lunch at this chicken shop where several of my colleagues buy their lunch. I was curious to try it. When I got there, I realised I only had £1.50 in my purse. I asked the shop assistant if I could pay by

My Trip to Tring

Image
I had to catch a train to Tring for a hair and makeup fitting. As I haven't been to that town before, I decided to get there early so I could explore the town centre before my fitting. I had travelled there with my London mentality, expecting the train station to be in the middlr of the town centre. Turns out it was a 30 minutes walk to the town centre. I didn't even see any buses, which were few and far between. After walking to the town centre, I headed to the local library. A library user recommended a local museum, which has stuffed animals and a local park  that I could explore. One librarian showed me how to get to the park. The park was beautiful. One sure sign I was in the countryside was I saw bunny rabbits, which you never see in London. I also scrambled up one hill to get a good view of the park. I would love to explore this park again when I have more time. On the way back, I went to the museum and made friends with this woman and her 4 year old granddaughter. The w

Perfect Timetables

Image
"But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus." Philippians 4: 19 ---- I've always found live train departure timetables difficult to read because of the background colours they use. This one is perfect. I can read the stations easily. I've even given the station my positive feedback. Thank you, God, for meeting my need perfectly. ❤️

About Thriving

Image
"I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert." Isaiah 43: 19 ----- I saw these roses in front  of our building. My flatmate, who is into gardening, tells me even though the soil is quite poor, somehow these roses always manage to thrive. No matter how difficult the circumstances, sons and daughters of God will always thrive. ❤️

Is the Rapture Imminent?

Ever since I started reading the Bible, I've been fascinated by Enoch of whom it is written walked with God and God took him. In other words, Enoch never experienced physical death, he was translated instantly from this realm to the invisible, spiritual, realm. (Genesis 5: 24).  (Elijah was the next man who was translated. see 2 King's 2:11). I was so fascinated by Enoch, that I adopted his name, hence  my pseudonym Enocia. (Joseph was a nickname I was given as a child because I used to have dreams which came true. I even dreamt of my mum's death before it happened). I decided I wanted to translate the way Enoch did.  I once shared that desire with a friend and he said if that happened to me, my family will report me as a missing person and the police will be obligated to investigate. 😀 I later realised that n Matthew 24: 1-44, Jesua did prophecyy his second coming and how His followers will be taken. Although Jesus  never revealed when this would happen, he described sign

Natural Makeup

I learned something new today. When a casting agency asks you to post a selfie with natural makeup, it doesn't mean looking natural. It means you can wear a base with light makeup not with lots of eyeshadow and fake eyelashes etc. Thank God, the Holy Spirit, nudged me to Google it and ask my colleagues for advice. I would have upladed an au naturale, no makeup, selfie. 😀

Cat Love

As I haven't lived with a cat for a while, I had forgotten the many ways they show you love. For example, after I had ironed my nice, clean top, I laid it on my bed. Zeus soon came in my bedroom. I thought he was going to lie on the other side of the bed. He went for my top. Not my top, move!  He wouldn't budge. I had to lift him off my top. I love you, Zeus, but I love my top a lot more.  😊♥️

Healing Training

Image
On my way to church this morning, I noticed this passenger on the bus in front of me wearing a puffer jacket and a puffer hat, despite the fact that it was quite warm outside. I took a  photo of her from the back. I thought her outit shows that one can't presume others feel the way you do. After the service, I stayed behind to attend healing training. As I was the only attendee, I was given a 121 masterclass about praying for healing by the healing ministry coordinator.   At one point, the teacher said how important it was not to presume others feel the same way you do. I showed her the photo I had taken earlier, which I said perfectly illustrated the point she was making. 😀 I not only learned a lot from that healing training, I got all my questions answered. The teacher even prayed for me. Thank you, Holy Spirit, for arranging for me to have the healimg training all to myself. ❤️

How to Keep the Cat Indoors

When Zeus (the cat) came in around 7pm, I said to my flatmate, "Zeus is in. Do you want me to close the d-o-o-r?" "Yes, please," she said. "And shut the w-i-n-d-o-w." I quickly shut the window to prevent Zeus sneaking out again. "Listen to us spelling words," I chuckled. "Zeus is very clever, you know?" "He can probably spell better than some of the kids in my class," my flatmate said. The things we do to keep the cat indoors! 😀

In the World, Not of the World

Image
"They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world." John 17:16 "And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." Romans 12: 2 --- When I told my flatmate, who is a school teacher, that I was booked at a particular secondary school, she warned me it was one of the worst schools in the Borough. As I was only going to do lunch cover, I didn't mind going there. After I got dressed, my stomach started churning and then hurting. It felt like I was getting a tummy upset. I wondered if it was the prawn sandwich I ate. After I paid a visit to the loo, I wasn't feeling at all well so I called my agency to let her know I couldn't go in.  She asked if there was anything I could take so I could still go. She sounded more concerned about her contract than my wellbeing.  I certainly wasn't about to tell her that I was going to meditate on Psa
