Open House London

"Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him,and He shall bring it to pass." Psalm 37: 4-5

----

I used to attend an event called Open House London every year. The event, which took place around the second weekend in September, was an opportunity for lovers of architecture to visit buildings which are not usually open to the public. Tours were organised for visitors to explore various buildings.

Six years ago, I applied to become a volunteer for Open House London, but on the day I was really ill and couldn't do it. Since then, I've been receiving constant emails from them inviting me to volunteer for favourite events, but I've not been able to commit to any.

This afternoon, my church  hosted an Open House London event for visitors to explore the building, including the dome. My friend told me she was volunteering for the event. She was asked to register visitors entering the building.

I decided I would use the opportunity to see the dome and get a fantastic view of London. I was warned there were lots of steps.

While I was waiting to see the dome, the guide came and asked my friend to move to another area. He asked me if I fancied working. I told him I wanted to see the dome. He promised I could see it after the tours end.

So I finally ended up volunteering for an Open House London event at my church. My job was to register visitors, ,give them information and advise them where to go if they wanted to see the dome. Most of them were eager to see the dome.

After we closed, I signed a disclaimer form confirming that I was fit enough to climb up to the dome. It was a hard climb, but I was praying all the way. The view at the top was spectacular and well worth the wait. The guide told me I had come at the right time as it had been raining earlier and it was foggy. He said now I was getting a very clear view of London.

As I'd also been assisting another event that was held at the church Chapel, I was invited to join them later for dinner. My friend and I had a really nice meal with fellow church members. We were even given goodie bags to take home.

All in all, it's been a wonderful day.

Thank you, God, for making my volunteering dream come true! ❤️

Here are some photos I took at the top of the dome
